Weird and Wonderful Stories From the World of Gambling

Betting your hard-earned money on a spin of the wheel might seem utterly nuts to some people. To us, it’s a passion and a way of life. But if you thought risking it all was mental, wait till you hear some of the wackiest and wildest stories BitStarz has uncovered about the world of gambling!

From the creative ways that people have used to evade capture back when gambling was illegal, to how Vegas capitalized on arguably the most destructive thing science has ever discovered, it’s all a little bit cray-cray if you ask us.

And that’s just the way we like it!

No dice, officer

The first stop on this journey takes us back to the 20th century in the US of A. Gambling was illegal in many states, so that forced people to take their games underground. Police raids were a real possibility, but the craps players had that sh*t sussed.

When the po-po would come knockin’, these dudes would simply swallow the dice. No evidence, no crime! And no crime meant that the courts had no proof, so they couldn’t make a conviction stick. Take that, John Q Lawman!

Luckily, if you play craps at BitStarz, you won’t need to be necking anything or hiding in dark, dingy corners! Check out Craps Live and First Person Craps for the very best without the stress!

Slow and steady wins the race

The slowest, and arguably most boring event anyone has ever betted on was called pedestrianism. People would wager on whether or not “athletes” could walk 1,000 miles in 1,000 hours. If you crunch the numbers, that equates to a 42-day sporting event consisting of watching people… walk. Ugh.

Dynamite in small packages

Massive land-based casinos in Vegas are a household name but precious few know about the world’s smallest casino.

The Grosvenor Casino in Birmingham cooked up a promotional idea of having a casino operate out of a taxi cab. This casino on wheels has a table, a dealer, a bar, a TV, and access to an online casino.

Rides in this taxi are complementary and all of the money lost by players (both at the table and online) is donated to charity.

Anything for a buck

There are some bizarre stories in this article, but hands-down the strangest has to do with a dude by the name of Brian Zembic. In 1996, Zembic’s mates bet him that he wouldn’t get a pair of implants (some reports say a minimum of 36C, others say 38C) and keep them for a year.

Not only did he get a fine pair of “funbags” and win the $100,000 bet, 20+ years later he was still sporting them. Now if that’s not enough, Zembic once made a bet that he’d spend the night with some vagrants under a New York bridge. Oh, and to make it interesting, he strapped $10,000 to his leg!

Then there’s the time he wagered that his 9-year-old daughter would play George Winston songs better than the pianist himself, and in only 3 years. Wanna know who judged that particular bet and confirmed that the child prodigy was in fact the victor? George Winston himself! Zembic made $75,000 on that one.

Time is money

Prison is a place you get sent to because you’ve done a bad thing. Now, that usually means you lose almost all of your privileges as a citizen, right? Well, for 35 years that wasn’t the case in Carson City, Nevada.

Gambling was such a huge industry that the prison rocked a casino inside it called the “Bullpen”. Here, you could while away the hours playing blackjack, craps, poker, and even bet on sports events. Unhappily for inmates who got there after 1967, a new warden from California quickly shut it down.

You don’t need to do time to enjoy blackjack, craps, or poker at BitStarz! We’ve got a whole bunch of table games covering these, and other spectacular games such as baccarat, roulette, and Sic Bo to name just a few!

Atomic_bombs_explode_against_the_Vegas_skyline

Boom shaka laka!

Our last story took place in 1951 when the US Department of Energy was setting off thousands of test nuclear bombs. This was happening some 65 miles (104 km) northwest of Glitter Gulch, Las Vegas.

Amazingly, the exploding mushroom cloud scene was deemed safe for visitors, which of course drew crowds from across the continent. So what does a town like Vegas do when it has a captive audience and the most insane show on earth on its doorstep? Advertise for “Atomic Bomb Parties” and throw beauty pageants, that’s what!

North-facing casinos, such as Binion’s Horseshoe and the Desert Inn, were quick to jump on the bandwagon. They even offered “atomic cocktails” and hosted “Dawn Bomb Parties”.

There are sure to be more weird and wonderful stories to come!

While bombs of the atomic variety are a no-no at BitStarz, we have plenty of others that’ll make your head go boom!

Check out Bombuster slot, Bombs Away slot, Bomb Squad, The Bomb slot, Arcade Bomb slot, Cherry Bomb Deluxe slot, and Fire in the Hole xBomb slot! Those are some explosive games, we tells ya!

So there you have it! What would life be without some WTF moments, a little weirdness, and a whole bunch of entertainment! Stay awesome people, and keep it wacky-side up with your mates at BitStarz.
