Hotline 2

Hotline 2 Slot Review

Our all-time favorite 80s detective slot TV show, Hotline, is back with detectives Quinn and Rivera chasing down our sly jewelry thief, Kitty Weiss, on the reels again in Hotline 2. If this makes absolutely no sense to you, NetEnt released a Miami Vice (Google it if you are too young) inspired slot in 2018, and Hotline 2 is the sequel. I'm still catching my breath from chasing Kitty the last time, so not sure if I'm ready to go at it again. Although, that might be due my pack-a-day habit.

Gameplay

Hotline 2 is a 5x3 reel, 243 ways video slot powered by NetEntsoftware. Symbols include 6 items of Jewellery and 4 Character Symbols. Special Symbols include the Cars Wild and the Neon Flamingo Scatter that triggers the Free Spins Feature. There is also a Hotline Feature, Expanding Wild Feature, and Buy Feature. More detail will be given in the Features section.

Below the reels (from left to right) are the controls starting with the Menu icon (3 horizontal lines) that expands to the Game Settings and Game Rules, next is the Information icon that extends to the Paytable, followed by the Bet window, adjustable Bet button, the Autoplay button, the Spin button, Fast Mode button, Win Window, and Balance Window.

Features and Unique Features

Features in Hotline 2 include the Cars Wild and the Neon Flamingo Scatter that triggers the Free Spins Feature. There is also a Hotline Feature, Expanding Wild Feature, and Buy Feature.

Above the controls, just below the reels, are unique icons that you can click to determine the number of Hotlines in play. This is known as the unique Hotline Feature. Reel 3 is always active as a Hotline, but you can activate 2 more reels to become Hotlines as follows:

Double Bet activated: reels 3 and 4 are Hotlines for 2x your stake.

Triple Bet activated: reels 2, 3, and 4 are Hotlines for 3x your stake.

When a Cars Wild symbol appears on any of Hotlines in play, it expands to give you a fully wild reel, known as the Expanding Wild Feature, where you can end up with 3 Wild reels per spin.

The Cars Wild only appears on reels 2, 3, and 4 and substitutes all symbols, except the Neon Flamingo Scatter, to form winning combinations. It can also expand if resulting in a winning combination.

Land 3 Neon Flamingo Scatters on reels 2-4 to trigger the unique Free Spins Feature, awarding 7 free spins. Cars Wilds that land on a Hotline expands fully and increases the reel's height by 1 symbol position and the number of win ways up to 1944 ways. When a Hotline reaches its maximum height of 6 symbols, 2 additional free spins are awarded.

Performance

Although Hotline 2's aesthetic is exactly the same as the original, the gameplay has evolved quite a bit with some fantastic unique features. The Free Spins Feature is where you will land the biggest wins. The design, animation, and graphics are superb. The volatility is medium, and the RTP is at 96.05%.

Max Win

The max coin win is 5184x your stake.

Conclusion

Hotline 2 meets the expectation of a sequel to the original, which doesn't happen very often when it comes to slot sequels, well, any sequels for that matter. It's like watching the 2nd season of your favourite series, blowing your mind all over again. Hotline 2 provides excellent gameplay that doesn't disappoint, especially when it comes to the Max Win potential of 5184 x your stake for a medium volatility slot. I'm waiting for Netflix to pick up this series; I think it will be a cracker of a show. Oh, wait, just watch Miami Vice.
