Phoenix Princess Slot Review
When most people think of a phoenix, they think about a majestic bird from Greek mythology, being born out of the very ashes that they died in. When I think “Phoenix rising from the ashes,” I picture myself dragging my way out of bed after a night of heavy drinking (I’m talking about one glass of wine). Courage means different things to different people, but personally, I think I’m more of a symbol of strength and courage than a bloody mythical bird is, and that’s before we even touch on the fact that I’m starting to get wrinkles. Aging is a terrifying process, and I’m on the frontlines.
Phoenix Princess is a 5-reel, 20-payline video slot powered by software from GameArt. I think the game’s developers might have got their wires crossed when coming up with the theme for this one, because it’s set in Ancient China but features phoenix’s. Hmmm. Anyway, symbols include the princess herself, a vase, a lotus flower, a palace, and playing cards from 9 to Ace. The Wild is represented by a Yin Yang symbol, while the Phoenix acts as the Scatter.
No need to stress about the controls, because I’m going to lay them all out for you. From left to right you can find Settings, Paytable (which shows how much the symbols are worth), Bet Per Line (from 0.01 to 1), Auto Play (which will spin the reels for you), Spin, Balance, Total Bet, and Win Display.
So, what features can you expect from Phoenix Princess? Gamble: To increase your winnings, you can click on the ‘gamble’ button, triggered after a winning round. All you have to do is guess whether the face-down card is black or red. Guess right, and you’ll double your winnings, but get it wrong, and you’ll be sent back to the base game empty-handed. Wild: Substitutes for all symbols except Scatter.
There’s a fantastic bonus feature which is triggered when 3, 4 or 5 Scatters land on the reels, beginning on the leftmost reel. This will trigger 8 Free Spins, during which the princess, vase, lotus flower, and palace act as Wild and substitute for the Ying Yang symbol.
Phoenix or no phoenix, this game is sure to light your screen on fire! The graphics are stunning, the soundtrack is soothing, and the game is available on any device. Try it on your tablet though, if you want a real treat.
Overall, I really enjoyed Phoenix Princess. The payouts are high, the features are fun, and while the theme is kind of wacky, the graphics are beautiful, and it plays really well. I know I’ll be coming back to this one again, and so will you. See you then.
