The King Slot Review

I've never one who's too enamored with the idea of nepotism. Who among us hasn't had a situation where an inept relative is promoted ahead of them?
I'm sure there will be thousands of avid monarchists baying for my blood when I say this: but isn't a monarchy just the height of nepotism?
You beg to differ? Well, history is littered with inept rulers who inherited power via bloodlines alone:

  • King Carlos (Charles) II was the product of centuries of inbreeding. So much so that the physical deformities were starting to show. A quick rundown of his highlights: Spanish Inquisition, mass famine, unrelenting war, spiraling economy and a chin larger than Jay Leno's.

  • Ludwig II of Bavaria was wholly unsuited to the task. With an aversion to large crowds and a severe introvert, the reign of this broodingly handsome monarch was doomed. Now I fully understand his fears and empathize, but in a perfect world, those traits would have disqualified him from a job that required massive social gatherings.

  • Edward II of England's rule was defined by laziness and indecisiveness. With a penchant for delegating any and every decision making to subjects, his reign plunged England into famine, war, and internal instability.
    And the list goes on,,,
Now imagine how different history would have been had the right people gotten these jobs?

Shew, now I have to review “The King” and pretend to be unbiased! The King is an Endorphina video slot which can be enjoyed pretty much on any device you choose. There's a regal air to this game right from the start. I couldn't picture myself following the king in question, but there was a feeling that the story being told was a noble one.

Gameplay

The King is a 5 reel and 10 payline slot with a high level of volatility. The wild is a crown and this can replace all other symbols, except for the scatter, which is a lion head statue. The standard symbols are the king, an archeress, treasure chest, armored mask, sword and 9-ace in a medieval font.
The controls could be a better fit to the theme, but at least they have muted colors. Up top, you'll find your Credits display, while the rest of what's needed is down below: Bet. Menu (including Paytable info and Autoplay settings), Total Bet, Autoplay, Spin and Lines.
You'll have to march at The King's designated speed because there's no Turbospin.

Features

  • After each winning spin in regular play, a “Take Risk” option is given. Here you get the chance to wager your profits on a double or nothing bet: Simply select a higher card than the dealers and you win.

  • 3 or more scatters anywhere activates 15 retriggerable Free Spins, all with a 3X multiplier!

Unique Features

  • Any wilds substituting in a winning payline double the payout!

Performance

There's a classical design to the graphics that accentuates the theme well – they're not brilliant, but they are effective. The subtle animations and music also add an immersive feel. I can't say the same about the sound effects though – their contemporary nature seems to break the mood. a
Performance wise there were zero issues.

Conclusion

Whether you're a loyal follower of a monarchy or a believer in a brave new world order, this video slot is worth trying out. It's not only enjoyable to play but the Free Spins, in particular, are superb.
