Now that you’ve got an idea of the kind of nutcase you’re dealing with, it should come as no surprise that I’m wringing my hands in gleeful anticipation of Mancala Gaming’s offering – the Twin Wins Mystery slot.

Gameplay

This game comes with quite an intriguing backstory. The gist of it is that the father (we presume) of a once-happy family has been murdered.

His twin girls, Meredith and Aveline, are suspected of knowing the truth. Your job is to go into their room to gather evidence. It’s not a task for the fainthearted as you’ll see when you step into their chamber.

As you enter, a music box issues a haunting soundtrack, and you’ll see symbols such as a planchette and a magical book on the reels. Adding to the unsettling feeling is the rocking horse beneath the Addams-family-style portrait on the wall.

I started playing with 25 credits and over the course of the next 30 spins, I proceeded to lose 315 with barely a smattering of small wins to show for my efforts.

Another 30 spins and an additional 435 down. By now it will come as no surprise that this game has a very high volatility and an RTP of just 95%.

The carrot on the stick though is the 10,450x multiplier that could bring in a substantial €261,250 top prize. But it ain’t gonna be easy.

Just one last point before we get into the features and that is that this game is available in 17 different languages and dialects. Nice touch, that.

Features

The Wild Twins symbol appears on reels 1 and 2 during the base game. Wilds can randomly award Multiplier Pins which sit in the voodoo-like skull on the left of the grid. These are used during the Free Spins – more on that in a moment.

The ragdoll is the Scatter and this sets off the Free Spins round. You’ll need 3 or more on the grid and in exchange, you’ll be awarded from 10 to 100 Free Spins!

Before anything happens, you’ll need to place all of the Multiplier Pins on any of the 9 symbol spaces that are available across reels 3, 4, or 5. You can place more than 1 pin on a single symbol space.

You’ll also find a Wild Twins Giant symbol during Free Spins, spanning reels 1 and 2. It also has a nudge element, so it will snap into place if it lands only partially showing. Wild Twins Giant symbols substitute for everything else, save the Ragdoll Multiplier.

Also during Free Spins, the Scatter changes to a Voodoo Doll symbol, but only if the Wild Twins Giant symbols are also present.

After the initial wins have been paid, it spins on its own reels (3, 4, and 5) and if it lands on a symbol with a pin on it, it will multiply any line wins by the total multiplier pinned to that symbol.

Conclusion

Naturally, I like the concept and theme of this game but I’m totally and unashamedly biased.

Subjectivity aside, The Twin Wins Mystery slot is really all about Free Spins – of which you can score 100! – and some multiplier action. But even though it’s just these mechanisms, Mancala has packaged them in unique forms which make for great entertainment.

Having said that, the very high volatility will make your journey a difficult one. There’s no getting around that. If you’re after the top prize here, you need to be committed and be ready to spend.

This is therefore not a game for beginners or even intermediate players. It’s squarely aimed at those of you who want the whole kaboodle but enjoy a good yarn to accompany your gambling.
