I started my review process by observing the young vapers that worked in our office. Most were interns in their early 20's who took my observing to be stalking. Insulting - do I look like Kevin Spacey or something?
After improving my dress code with some long forgotten blue jeans, I explained my interest and they were pretty receptive. An entire slot machine about their ilk appealed to them. I hung out for as long as I could survive the conversation, pressing them for details about their culture. Four minutes later I went back to my desk...
I was gonna have to review this game more on its content than theme, because anything else would be disingenuous. Vaping was not my cup of tea.
Diamond Vapor is a video slot created by Endorphina which works on all platforms and devices. The designers are known to push the boundaries of creativity and are renowned as trendsetters, so I had to up my game! I stole a cap from one of the office hipsters, put it on backward and got ready for action…
It's a sleek, ultra-modern design which definitely arrested my attention. The colors are varied but steeped in futuristic realism – it almost feels like 3D. I felt younger and hipper, altho the jeans were riding a bit high…

Gameplay

Diamond Vapor has 5 reels and 10 paylines with thematic symbols and people that are so cool; you either wanna slap them or be them. Let's start with the Vapers: Blonde female, a Bearded guy with cap on (backward of course!) and a bearded part-time poet who spends more on hair care than the GDP of a small country. They're joined by the Diamond Vapor game symbol, a Vape Bar (the scatter symbol) and a host of Vapes (Vapes are what the Vapers use to breath Vapour – say that 10 times quickly!)
The controls are neat and simple to use. From the left: Bet Amount, Lines, Total Bet Display, Turbo, Auto, and Spin. It's so minimalistic that you don't notice the buttons when playing.
Up top, there are general Game Settings with Paytable and Rules, Bet Mode, plus Autospin, Graphics, Sound and Language settings.

Features

The Vape Bar performs two functions – firstly in the main game, it serves as a wild, replacing all other symbols, while also activating 10 Free Spins when you land 3 or more. Free spins are played at the same bet level as the spin which triggered them. During Free Spins, the Vape Bar cannot substitute for other symbols.
In the Free Spins any symbols which appear in a winning combination from left to right expand to cover the entire reels in question.

Unique Features

I've never seen a Gamble function quite like this one! The two male Vapers appear, and you choose which one you think will blow more vapor out. I kid you not!
At first, it was a bit disconcerting, but after a short time, I realized this is a welcome change from the tedious card games which are generally in gamble rounds. Each winning bet doubles up your profits, up to a maximum of 5 successful tries.

Gameplay

I can't stress enough how realistic this game is. Immediately when I saw the graphics and animation, I thought there might be performance issues, but it performed impeccably.
The music has the same futuristic feel as the game and fits in nicely.

Conclusion

Sometimes you're not a fan of the theme but are still won over by a game. That's what happened to me with Diamond Vapor. Despite my initial misgivings, I ended up loving the mind-blowing graphics, superb gameplay and novel aspects of the game. So I can wholeheartedly recommend that you take a deep breathe and give it a try!
