“Digital Currency Is the Future” Says New CashBet President

CashBet’s new president Ed Brennan has pinned his colors firmly to the cryptocurrency mast, stating that “Crypto will win in the long run, no question.” Brennan, who took over as CashBet president in September, believes that the younger generation will be the drivers of cryptocurrency adoption and, once the right products are available, it will overtake fiat as a payment method.

Imminent Adoption

Speaking in an interview with Gambling Insider, Brennan said that the reason why cryptocurrency was taking so long to gain wider adoption wasn’t down to a lack of desire, but because it had been designed by engineers rather than business people. The drawback of this according to Brennan is that “because it is designed so well, it is also complicated, and therefore difficult to integrate into existing business streams.” Adoption will happen incredibly fast, he believes, once it is as easy to use as fiat. It works particularly well for the gaming industry Brennan says, stating that since 2014 more than 3.7 million Bitcoin has been used on betting platforms, valued at $26bn.

Malta Blazing a Trail

Brennan, who formerly worked at Merrill Lynch, Seagate, Adobe, and Microsoft is clearly well-versed in many aspects of blockchain and cryptocurrency, singling out Malta’s investment in blockchain as a development that will “blaze a trail for others to follow in Europe”. He also acknowledged the amount of work going into blockchain development in Silicon Valley and on Japanese shores. He revealed that CashBet plans to launch their own token, adding, “Once they (customers) use crypto in a transaction and it is as easy as fiat, game over. Digital currency is the future.”

Forward Thinking

With Brennan at the helm, it is clear that CashBet has taken on someone with an eye for the future and who can help drive the adoption of cryptocurrency not only within his own company but, hopefully, the online gaming ecosystem as a whole. Some gaming sites, like Bitstarz, have been accepting cryptocurrency for years, and it is exciting to see another pro-crypto individual heading up a big player in the industry. Hopefully, in the coming years will see many more like-minded individuals enter the space and help define the next era of online gaming.
