Banana Town Slot Review

Boy, does the next game bring back memories! The first time I got my sacrilegious paws on a Nintendo Game & Watch handheld device was when my European aunt and uncle came to visit us. You see, back then, we couldn’t get this kinda tech in darkest Africa.

One of the games I squandered my youth on, was Donkey Kong. And after 41 years in showbiz, that nutsy primate is still influencing studios.

Come walk down memory lane with me as we check out Banana Town from Relax.

Gameplay

I’m loving the aesthetics of this game! Those 8-bit graphics make it look like an NFT version of Donkey Kong, and the sound effects are super old school (although they do become annoying after a few minutes).

The grid is made up of 6 reels, and this game offers up a 96.12% RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.

RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate.
, a high volatility rate, and a max win worth €200,000.

Banana Town slot works on a cluster pays system where symbols involved in a win get removed so that other symbols can take their place and hopefully create more wins. Wins are awarded when 8 or more symbols appear on the reels.

Look, now that we know each other, I need to ask you a favor: Please check this game out on your phone in portrait mode. This has to be one of my all-time favorite games to play on a mobile device.

The grid is massive in portrait mode, with the Buy feature prominently wedged between the reels and the controls. It’s stunning to look at and perfectly functional. Landscape mode mirrors a desktop/laptop view so of course, that’s amazeballs, too.

Features

MULTIPLIER UPGRADE:

To the right of the grid, you’ll see a meter. Each symbol type has a multiplier value associated with it, and at the start of each spin, those multipliers will increase randomly. Multipliers will also double after a win, and their values start at 1x and go up to a max of 64x.

FREE SPINS:

You’ll need to land 3 or more dollar Bonus symbols to trigger this feature. You’ll get 8 spins for your troubles and an extra Bonus symbol gets you another spin.

Remember those multipliers that we had during the base game? Well, those don’t reset back to 1x like they do in the base game. As for the Multiplier Upgrade feature, that also applies during Free Spins.

BUY FEATURE:

If it’s taking too long to get your Free Spins, then you can buy your way in for 100x your bet.

Performance

Unlike its 8-bit predecessors, Banana Town slot never missed a beat during the many spins I sent its way. I played this slot on my MacBook and iPhone, using Safari and Chrome, and there were no issues whatsoever.

Maximum Win

Considering the high volatility rating of this game, we’d expect a rather meaty max win. It comes in at €200,000, which is fair. The multiplier is a gargantuan 10,000x and the most you can bet is €20. But don’t worry, you can start betting from as little as €0.10.

Conclusion

The strategy here is simple: land wins and score increasingly larger multipliers. And preferably do so during the Free Spins round so that the multipliers don’t reset.

Turning a profit turned out to be a hit-and-miss affair when I used the Buy feature, though. Maybe it was just my luck.

I’m generally a fan of features, but I don’t feel that every game needs to be stuffed full of them. Simplicity suits this game, so I’m happy with what Relax Gaming has on offer here.

Look, only having Free Spins and multipliers doesn’t make for riveting entertainment but the game is solid and it looks amazing – especially on a phone. Accept it for what it is and you’ll be reliving your misspent youth for hours.
