I think sometimes games developers must be under so much pressure to find new and inventive ways to spice up old genres. Take fruit based slots for example – there are hundreds of them. So, can you imagine being in a development meeting:
“Right, we have three themes here, each will be assigned to a different group and we'll draw straws for them. The three ideas are Space Ninjas, Robot Wars and some sort of fruit-based slot.”
Then you're the poor bastard who draws the short straw and now have to lead a team in creating a game with the riveting storyline of...fruit.
Ah well, life's tough – suck it up and carry on. That's exactly what BGAMING have done by bringing us Crazy Starter – a fruit-based slot for PC, mobile device or tablet. It's clear early on that this game is a bit different – for one, all the fruit is personified (ie- given human traits). Its bizarre hilarity is both enamoring and addictive. With a chuckle here and a guffaw there, I found myself greatly appreciating the wackiness.
Gameplay
Crazy Starter is a medium volatility slot with 5 reels and 25 paylines. The standard symbols are a variety of fruit and veg, each with its own “personality”: leering bananas, quizzical apple, grumpy green pepper, nerdy tomato, cheerful cherries and dopey lemon. They're joined by a wild sign which can substitute for any symbol, except the scatter - a waving Free Spins worm.
Controls are neat and organized, but not that visually appealing. Up top are Provability options (I'll chat about that later), and Settings (Including Paytable and Rules).
Below the reels are: Balance, Line Count, Max Bet, Spin, Autospin, Bet Value and Total Bet.
There is no Turbospin on offer, so try and lay off those double expressos please.

The music is peppy enough to keep you in a good mood, while the sound effects enhance the zaniness.
Crazy Starter performed excellently on all devices tested. I particularly thought that it lent itself well to being played on a mobile device.
Conclusion
Crazy Starter proves that it's possible to breathe life into a tired genre. While not having a ton of features, it provides really enjoyable and humorous gameplay with some fantastic Free Spins. That, coupled with its Provably Fair nature make this video slot worth a spin!
