Pug Life Slot Review
I know the title of Hacksaw Gaming’s latest is Pug Life slot, but I’m going to talk about cats. And not just cats in general, but one of the most famous felines of all time: Grumpy Cat (the link being that a similarly miserable furball is one of the game’s characters).
Grumpy Cat’s real name was the almost equally hilarious Tardar Sauce, and the reason for that crotchety expression was due to her underbite and dwarfism.
Grumpy Cat’s owners made a goddamn fortune off the kitties’ fame. So much so, that the estimated revenue generated by Grumpy Cat Limited tipped the scales at an unbelievable $100 million!
Here’s hoping that Sour Puss, or whatever Hacksaw version is called, brings us similar good fortune!
Gameplay
I would’ve loved to have been part of Hacksaw’s creative team when they came up with this game. You can just imagine how much fun they had brainstorming the various critters, which have these wonderfully distinctive personalities.
The studio’s attention to detail is stupendous and the devil’s in the details. Check out the Chihuahua in the bubble bath with the cucumber slices on its eyes, the bottles of bleach on the floor, and its red, painted nails – sheer brilliance!
And here’s another plus: Pug Life slot looks magnificent on a mobile phone. Check it out in portrait mode; that’s the best option, I reckon.
The selling points of this game are the Sticky Wild Multipliers, and the fact that it offers two bonus games. But more on that in a bit.
Happily, this isn’t a case of all bark and no bite. OK, well it’s a pug-sized bite rather than a bear dog-sized one. Pug Life slot offers an RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. of 96.33%, 16 fixed paylines, and a medium volatility rate.
Now, you’d think that the max win would come in around the hundred grand mark, but you’d be soooo wrong – it’s actually €225,000! How sweet is that? But… crypto players won’t be able to get their piece as this is a fiat-only game.
Features
TREATS:
True to their name, Treats bring something special to the game, and in this case, it's Wild Multipliers. They come in 3 flavors: Biscuits, Bones, and Steak. Mmmmmm. The value of their respective multipliers breaks down like this:
Biscuit: 2x to 4x
Bones: 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x
Steak: 25x, 50x, 75x, 100x, 150x, 200x
Any winning combo with a Treat as part of its symbols will increase its value by the respective multiplier. And, unsurprisingly, if more than 1 treat finds its way into the combo, the multiplier values will be added up and then applied to the win.
Landing 3 Treats of any kind, anywhere on the reels simultaneously, kicks off the Treat Yo’self bonus round.
TREAT YO’SELF (BONUS GAME NO 1):
All Treats that land will now be sticky (ugh, that sounds charming) and you’ll get 5 spins at the start of things. Landing additional Treats gets you extra spins, too.
THE DAWG’S DEN (BONUS GAME NO 2):
Landing 3 or more kennels during the base game gets you into this feature. Each DD symbol has a value of either 3 or 4, and the total amount is how many Free Spins you’ll get.
You’ll only be paid out at the end of the feature, so don’t despair (the amount is shown above the reels). You can bump up the current multiplier or add extra wins to the total by landing sticky Toaster Scatters on reels 4 or 5, which act as Wilds.
STICKY TOASTERS:
The Multipliers from these bad boys range from 2x to 5x, or they could be 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, or 100x.
BONUS BUY:
You can buy any of the 4 options on offer. Oh, and FeatureSpins guarantees a certain feature, as you’ll see below.

Performance
There’s no reason to be grumpy when playing this slot. It didn’t make a difference if I was rocking it on my phone or laptop, or using Safari or Chrome. Pug Life slot was mercifully glitch-free during testing.
Maximum Win
So yeah, the max win is a tail-wagging €225,000. The largest multiplier you can land is 7,500x which ain’t great but it’s not dismal either. It just means you’ll need to bet at €30 if you want a shot at the top prize (or start betting from €0.10 upwards).
Conclusion
Other than the amazing visuals, Pug Life slot offers two Bonus features along with some strong stats, including a max win that’s to drool for.
And on the topic of features, the Treats along with the Toasters (and subsequent multipliers) can add up nicely. Although why the studio opted for a toaster, I’m not quite sure.
I love that we have 4 options in the Bonus Buy and that Hacksaw has made the RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. values available, so we can make an informed decision. And let's not forget that the mobile version of this game looks stunning and makes on-the-go play a treat.
That just leaves me with one last thing to say: good boy, Hacksaw, good boy!
