The Catholic Church has had its fair share of scandals over the centuries. Between the corruption, political intrigue, and occasional Pope who seemed more interested in worldly pleasures than spiritual enlightenment, there’s enough material to keep historians busy for another thousand years. Still, you’ve got to admire an institution that can survive all that and continue telling everyone else how to behave.
Slightly Edgy appears to have paid closer attention to the scandal rather than the sermons. The developer’s Peep the Pope Gigablox slot takes us to the Vatican, where the Holy Father has been getting up to some rather naughty antics.
Try not to get poked as you peep
The Peep the Pope Gigablox slot uses a six-reel, five-row grid, with wins awarded for landing eight or more matching symbols anywhere on the reels. Bets range from 0.10 to 40 per spin, with a maximum win of 9,989.4x your bet, or $399,576 at the highest betting level. The slot has medium-to-high volatility and an expected RTP of 94%.

With any winning combination, the symbols involved will be removed, allowing new symbols to fall into their place. The cascading reels mechanic continues until no new winning symbols form. Every symbol removed is added to a Progress Bar next to the reels. As the bar fills, it can award Gigablox symbols and the Hold & Win and Pick & Click bonus features.
Gigablox symbols are oversized versions of regular paying symbols that can occupy areas ranging from 2×2 to 5×5 positions on the reels. Each position counts as an individual symbol when calculating wins. This means that a 3×3 Gigablox provides nine matching symbols, or enough to form a winning combination on its own.

The Hold & Win bonus is played on its own 3×3 grid, where bonus symbols are collected and remain locked in position. Like all hold and win features, you get three spins that are reset if a symbol is added to the reels.
There is also a Pick & Click bonus that will have you strip the Pope of his clothes, with each layer revealing a new multiplier value. Why are you stripping the Pope? Who knows.

Finally, landing four or more Free Spins symbols triggers the Free Spins bonus. During this round, the Progress Bar is replaced by a Multiplier Bar that increases with each cascade, potentially reaching 666x. During a round of free spins, at least one random Gigablox symbol is guaranteed on every spin.

If you’re not keen on unlocking a round of any of the bonus features yourself, you can select to just outright purchase a round with the slot’s Buy feature.
Is the Peep the Pope slot worth the risk of molestation?
The Peep the Pope slot feels like it could be something from Nolimit City. I was surprised to see the slot provider hadn’t already made something like it. Slightly Edgy seems to be living up to its name, pushing further into the extremely edgy realm. And the execution is great.
In addition to the slot looking great, there are some really fun details that elevate the gameplay. For example, the candle animation when you hover over the Ante Bet toggle button. There’s no practical reason to add that. It’s just a fun element for players to discover.
The slot does offer a large, if not weirdly specific, maximum multiplier and a load of bonus features that keep you guessing. All in all, I give the Peep the Pope slot a rare ten out of ten.
