Pizza Rat Ain’t Got Sht on the Rad Maxx Slot

Do you remember Pizza Rat? The rat in New York that was caught dragging a full slice of pizza away like some hellscape takeaway? Yeah, that little bastard didn’t just scavenge, he conquered. In a subway that smells like regret and expired dreams, he became a greasy icon of survival, hustle, and gluten-fueled chaos. No pants, no shame, just vibes—and probably several diseases. He didn’t need five stars on Yelp. He was the review.

Now, I find it unlikely that Maxx from the Hacksaw’s new Rad Maxx slot is based on Pizza Rat but the character sure does have the attitude that made the former iconic.

Don’t stand between Max and his lunch!

The Rad Maxx slot from Hacksaw features 37 fixed paylines across a 5-reel setup. Betting starts at just $0.10, with a maximum limit of $25. If you’re betting at the upper limit, you could win up to $312,500, thanks to the 12,500x maximum multiplier. The slot has medium to high volatility, meaning wins can be frequent or streaky depending on spin outcomes. The RTP is 96.32%.

Crazy Cat symbols serve as wild multipliers, ranging from x2 to x20. When one forms part of a win, its value is applied to the total. If more than one appears in the same win, their values multiply together before affecting the payout, leading to large potential boosts.

Each spin displays four Pay Direction Arrows outside the grid, showing how paylines are calculated. The left-facing arrow is always active. The other three can be triggered by landing a Wild Plus symbol, which activates one to three extra pay directions before any wins are evaluated. These reset at the start of the next spin.

The Mad Maxx Bonus Game is triggered by landing three FS scatters, awarding 10 free spins. It follows base game mechanics but increases the odds of Wild Plus symbols appearing. Crazy Cat symbols become sticky for the round’s duration. Landing two or three FS scatters during the bonus adds +2 or +4 extra spins.

The Maxximice Bonus Game activates when four FS scatters land, awarding 10 free spins. It functions like Mad Maxx, but guarantees a Wild Plus symbol on every spin, boosting the number of active pay directions consistently throughout the round.

To The Maxx is triggered by five FS scatters and gives 10 free spins with all four Pay Direction Arrows active for the entire bonus, expanding the number of ways to win on every spin.

Bonus buys include BonusHunt FeatureSpins for 3x the bet with a 5x better chance of triggering bonuses, Feline Frenzy for 50x with guaranteed Wild Plus and three Crazy Cats, and direct entry to Mad Maxx and Maxximice for 100x and 200x respectively.

Is the Rad Maxx slot a worthy sequel?

The Rad Maxx slot is, I’m guessing, supposed to be set in the same universe as RIP City, with the slots sharing a main character and a significant number of other design elements. While I do like the idea of expanding a story, it has to be done in a way that doesn’t look like it’s just been recycled for an easy win.

In the case of the Rad Maxx slot, it’s unclear whether Hacksaw has truly achieved something new. The graphics don’t do much to suggest an expansion of the existing universe, instead coming across as a near carbon copy rather than a creative evolution. That said, the multi-directional pay mechanic is genuinely novel and does introduce a fresh layer of gameplay that distinguishes it from its predecessor. Still, it’s debatable whether that alone justifies the slot’s existence. I give Rad Maxx a seven out of ten.

If you’re looking for a few Hacksaw slots that I do recommend, try out Vending Machine or Toshi Video Club.
