Some job titles really suck the hind teat. Take Rear Admiral, for example. That unfortunate designation belongs to a certain Ali S. Khan, who wrote an article entitled Preparedness 101: Zombie Apocalypse.

Yeah, so I don’t think firing shotguns at tornados and people with Covid will do much good, but hey, what the hell do I know anyway.
This is Re Kill slot from Mascot.
Gameplay
The stumbling, drooling undead are back. Run for cover! Given the theme of this slot, I was hoping for a design that was a bit more interesting and creative than what Mascot Gaming has come up with. At least the clutching hands that appear from the bottom of the screen are cool.
So, what does the game look like on a phone in portrait mode? The 5-reel grid is squished and relegated to the top of the screen. There’s just a blurry background making up the rest of the real estate, and if you permit me to be honest, it looks terrible.
Luckily, landscape mode comes to the rescue, so if you are gonna play this one on the go, you know what you need to do.
Re Kill slot comes with 40 paylines, a cheeky 95.9% RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. (I say “cheeky” coz 96% is the industry standard), and a low volatility rate.
Given the latter, I reckoned the max win would be on the low side… but just how low, I wasn’t sure. Turns out the €32,000 on offer is scraping the barrel. It hardly seems worth the effort, to be honest.
There are no currency limitations, though, so you can play to your heart’s content using whichever moolah you prefer.
Features
The Wild symbol is a crazed zombie, and it replaces all symbols other than the Scatter.
The Scatter is a biohazard sign, and these can appear anywhere during the base game, as well as the Free Spins round.
FREE SPINS:
Landing 3 to 5 Scatters triggers the Free Spins feature and awards 15, 20, or 30 spins, respectively.
RANDOM WILD REELS:
As the name suggests, this feature can spontaneously transform 1 to 5 reels into Wild reels during the base game. Wild Reels are fully stacked with Wilds, which means more win opportunities.
TRANSFORMING WILDS:
During the Free Spins round, a zombie Wild can randomly transform all landed character symbols into Transformed Wilds. These Wilds replace all other symbols and, of course, allow for more wins to take place.
RISK’N’BUY FEATURE:
You’ll be offered this feature after each spin, and it doesn’t matter if you’ve won or lost. You’ll have the choice of risking your current win for the chance to go to the Free Spins round, or you can buy your way in. Oh, and the Risk’n’Buy feature isn’t available during Autoplay.
Performance
Unlike those shuffling meat sacks this game is based on, Re Kill slot performed flawlessly across literally hundreds of spins. It didn’t make a difference if I was playing on my phone or laptop, or using Chrome or Safari.
Maximum Win
Dodging animated corpses who wanna eat your brains should be a high-paying job, I reckon. Mascot Gaming doesn’t think so, however, as the max win they’re offering on Re Kill slot is only €32,000.
The max multiplier is also dismal, at 200x, which means the betting range has to be very broad. It starts at €0.20 and taps out at €160.
Conclusion
I like the theme of Re Kill slot, but unfortunately the design doesn’t live up to its potential. It’s sad, really – there’s so much more that Mascot could’ve done here.
The max win is another worrying element, but if we’re being fair, it is a low-volatility game. That’s just how these things roll, so I’m not going to make too much of this.
As for the features, they’re pretty banal. Free Spins and a bunch of Wilds aren’t enough to make this game stand out from the competition.
The problem for me is that Re Kill slot is going up against the likes of Cazombie slot and Zombie Carnival slot. With their €100,000 and €400,000 max wins, respectively, and more immersive gameplay, I can’t see Mascot’s offering out-competing them.
