The late 2000s to early 2010s were one hell of a time for reality television. Honestly, it feels like we all collectively lost our damn minds with the amount of trash we were watching.
The top of my list has got to be TLC’s My Strange Addiction, which focuses on people with weird and wonderful obsessions. From huffing deodorant to eating copious amounts of corn starch, if someone did it, TLC would find them.
I’ll never forget the episode that focused on 62-year-old Julius, an unassuming man with a particular affinity for balloons.
You read that right. And, “looners” (as they’re called) are more popular than you’d think. Just Google it, and you’ll see what I mean.
Anyway, somehow I doubt that’s what Smartsoft Gaming had in mind with their new Balloon slot. But one’s mind can’t help but wander…
Gameplay
Okay, so Balloon slot isn’t technically a slot. It’s closer to a crash game, with the mechanics working as follows:
To begin, choose your desired bet at the bottom of the screen. Betting ranges from €0.10 to €100, with the maximum multiplier set at 100x (that means a max win of €10,000 for the uninitiated).
Next, you’ll need to click and hold the pink button at the bottom right of the screen. Watch as the balloon is blown up (complete with sound effects).
The aim is to release the button before the balloon pops, as that’s when you’ll score a win. If it pops before you release it, you lose your bet.
The bigger the balloon, the bigger the multiplier. The win is calculated by combining the balloon’s value multiplied by your bet – so your payout potential is ultimately in your hands.
As far as the rest of the stats go, you’ll enjoy a 97% RTP and a medium-high volatility rate. There are no currency limitations to Balloon slot, so go wild (in both crypto and fiat).

Performance
I’d hoped that such a simple game would work without any glitches or buffering issues, and luckily Balloon slot passed the test.
