Bruce Goes Into The Casino Business in the Fins of Fortune Slot

In a world where Bruce from Finding Nemo has successfully spread the gospel that fish are friends, not food, these prehistoric predators are forced to find new ways to fill their time that don’t involve terrorising every other creature in the ocean. They could pivot into kelp farming. Maybe organic algae production. Or, naturally, they could go into the casino business.

Now, I’m not saying this was the pitch presented by GamingCorps’ developers for Fins of Fortune, but I’m also not saying it wasn’t.

Time to take a dip

The Fins of Fortune slot features 1,024 ways to win spread across five reels. The slot’s 5,000x max multiplier gives you a shot at winning up to $100,000 if you’re betting at the $20 per spin maximum. Betting does, however, start at just $0.10 a spin.

With medium volatility, the slot’s gameplay offers a nice balance between small, consistent wins and the rare big win. The Fins of Fortune slot offers an RTP of 95.82%.

When it comes to the slot’s bonus features, the list is long. Not like exaggerating about the size of the fish I caught long, but rather stars in the sky long.

The Shark Wild is a special Wild symbol that can appear only in the top position of the third reel. When it lands, it substitutes for all regular symbols except Coin symbols and Treasure Coins. Its role extends beyond substitution, as it can also interact directly with prize symbols on the grid.

When Coin symbols or Treasure Coins are present on the grid alongside the Shark Wild, the Shark Adder Feature may activate at random. This feature adds extra prize values to several Coins or Treasure Coins, with additions ranging from 0.5x up to 1000x your bet.

The Shark Summon Feature may also trigger when the Shark Wild lands. In this case, additional Coins or Treasure Coins are added to the grid at the end of the spin. Once the spin is resolved, the Shark Collect Feature gathers and totals the values of all Coins and Treasure Coins that appeared during that spin.

The Shark Wild can also randomly trigger a Free Spins game. Each time it lands in the base game, it sends energy to its cave above the reels, which may result in the Shark Free Spins feature being activated.

The Orca Wild appears only in the bottom position of the third reel. Like the Shark Wild, it substitutes for all symbols except Coin symbols and Treasure Coins and can influence prize symbols that land during the same spin.

If Coin symbols or Treasure Coins are present with the Orca Wild, the Orca Double Feature may trigger at random. When it does, the values of several Coins or Treasure Coins on the grid are doubled.

The Orca Summon Feature may also occur, adding extra Coins or Treasure Coins to the grid at the end of the spin. Afterward, the Orca Collect Feature collects and totals the values of all Coins and Treasure Coins that landed during that spin.

The Orca Wild can randomly trigger its own Free Spins game. Each time it lands during the base game, it sends energy to its corresponding cave, which may activate the Orca Free Spins feature.

Coins are prize symbols that can land in any position on the grid and can carry values of up to 1000x your bet. Treasure Coins are enhanced prize symbols that can also appear anywhere on the grid and are divided into four tiers: Mini, Minor, Major, and Major.

Free Spins are triggered through the appearance of the Shark Wild and Orca Wild during the base game. If both symbols land on the same spin, there is a random chance of triggering the Fortune Free Spins game instead. Any cave animations shown are visual only and do not influence the outcome.

When Shark Wild Free Spins are triggered, you receive 10 Free Spins, and the Shark Wild remains locked on the grid throughout the feature. During these spins, the Summon Feature occurs more frequently, and the Shark Adder Feature activates every time Coins or Treasure Coins land.

When Orca Wild Free Spins are triggered, you also receive 10 Free Spins, with the Orca Wild locked on the grid for the duration. During these spins, the Summon Feature occurs more frequently, and the Orca Double Feature activates whenever Coins or Treasure Coins land.

If the opposite Wild lands during either set of Free Spins, the feature upgrades to Fortune Free Spins. When this upgrade happens, you are awarded an additional two Free Spins, and both the Shark Wild and the Orca Wild are locked on the grid for the remainder of the round.

In addition to unlocking the slot’s features the old-fashioned way, it also offers a buy bonus feature.

Is the Fins of Fortune slot a little too much?

I am reminded of a line from Jurassic Park, when Jeff Goldblum’s character, Ian Malcolm, says, “Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.” That’s how I feel about the Fins of Fortune slot

While it plays like a fairly ordinary shark/underwater-themed slot, there is just so much going on in the background that it becomes almost farcical. I just don’t get the reason behind the feature bloat. I would much prefer a great-looking slot with an interesting theme and a few really well-crafted and theme-specific bonus features. This feels like an everything bagel, and I genuinely don’t understand people who order that monstrosity. Do you want some bagel with your seeds?

If you’re looking for a few GamingCorps slots that I do recommend, try out Hyena Heist and Gates of Hellfire.
