Frenzy Clusters Slot: Wacky Magic and Even Wackier Characters
While Saturday morning cartoons would have us feel differently, magic is mostly smoke, mirrors, and one suspicious bloke in a robe pretending he knows what the hell is going on. The rest is confidence, misdirection, and an audience too polite to point out that the rabbit was clearly shoved up his sleeve five minutes ago.
Thankfully, in the Frenzy Clusters slot from BGaming, the magic is more Saturday morning cartoons than a sweaty man on an off-off-Broadway stage.
Do you know the magic words?
Betting on the Frenzy Clusters slot starts at $0.20 per spin. If you bet at the $30-per-spin maximum, you’ll have a shot at winning up to $300,000 thanks to the 10,000x maximum multiplier.
With high volatility, wins may be less frequent as you chase those potentially larger payouts. The slot’s expected RTP is 97.11%.
Before you begin, you will be asked to select a Hero. You can test and change your Hero at any point during the main game by selecting the cards button on the left side of the screen.
The slot does not feature paylines or ways to win. Wins are formed through the Cluster Pays system, with at least four matching symbols touching each other being required to create a winning cluster. The slot also features cascading reels, a mechanic that removes symbols involved in a winning cluster, allowing new symbols to fall into the empty positions. Think Candy Crush.
A number of the slot’s cells are initially locked, preventing symbols from landing in those positions. A locked cell can be opened when a winning cluster forms in a directly adjacent cell. During the main game, any opened cell remains open until the end of your spin. During a round of free spins, every cell you unlock stays open until the round ends.
When a cluster containing at least four symbols is removed, a Special symbol may be left behind. There are three possible types, each designed to clear symbols and create space for further clusters.
- Rocket: Removes every symbol along one horizontal or vertical line.
- Book: Clears all symbols in the cells immediately surrounding it.
- Sphere: Selects one symbol type at random and removes every matching symbol currently visible on the grid.
Special symbols cannot remove other Special symbols or Scatters. They also cannot unlock locked cells.
A round of 12 free spins is triggered by landing three scatter symbols. Four scatter symbols will award 15 free spins, five will award 18 free spins, six will award 20 free spins, and seven will award 25 free spins.
The feature also has a global multiplier that will grow throughout your round and be applied to every winning cluster. The global multiplier’s starting value is determined by the number of scatter symbols that triggered the feature. Three scatter symbols award a 3x multiplier, four will award a 4x multiplier, and so on.
The global multiplier can be increased by unlocking locked cells, three of which will feature hidden multiplier values. Each additional scatter symbol that lands during your round will also increase the global multiplier.
Mega Free Spins follow the same mechanics as the standard set of free spins. The only difference is that all 49 cells on the 7×7 grid will be unlocked from the start of your round.
The slot’s Buy Bonus feature allows you to unlock a round of Free Spins for 100x your bet or Mega Free Spins for 250x your bet.
Is the Frenzy Clusters slot magic or meh?
Getting to choose a character when the slot loaded was a nice touch. It really brought me into the Frenzy Clusters slot’s gameplay from the first spin. That said, I wish they’d made that selection count more. It really did feel like it was just for aesthetics, and I think BGaming missed out on something there.
The slot’s bonus features are plentiful, and they keep the gameplay interesting. The slot also has a 10,000x max multiplier and a healthy expected RTP. All in all, not a bad showing from BGaming. I give it a nine out of ten.
If you’re looking for a few other interesting BGaming slots, I recommend Snoop Dogg Dollars and Gates of Power.
