40 Burning Hot Slot Review
I don’t know about you, but turning 40 was not a fun experience for me. I don’t remember too much about that fateful evening (a small mercy) primarily since I wound up being bombarded with flaming shots by the people I call my ‘friends’. The next day saw me lying on the bathroom floor with my head in the toilet, trying to bring up whatever unholy liquid was shoved down my gullet less than 8 hours earlier. You can imagine then, that the name ‘40 Burning Hot’ might not have excellent connotations for me. Maybe some people like reliving one of the most shameful days in their existence, but I’m just not that kind of masochist. Masochistic enough to drink those bloody shots in the first place, but not enough to want to think about it ever again.
So, enough with the anecdotal stuff - I think it’s time to actually get into what we’re here to talk about, rather than rehash my trauma.
Gameplay
40 Burning Hot is a progressive slot powered by software from Amusnet Games. With 5 reels and 40 paylines, this game is major improvement on its predecessors. It’s fairly traditional, with symbols you’d expect from a slot machine in your home town's casino, but with better graphics and less drunk old men trying to tell you how to do things. There are quite a few symbols here but you shouldn’t be too overwhelmed. 40 Burning Hot features a Wild symbol represented by a four leaf clover, 2 Scatters - a gold dollar sign and purple star, a lemon, grapes, a bell, cherries, a watermelon, an orange, and a red ‘7’. Like most slots, 40 Burning Hot has its own unique way of playing - that being said, if you’ve played an EGT Interactive slot before, you should be good to go. I’ll run through the controls just in case you’ve had one too many flaming shots, and have had your head stuck deep in the bowels of your toilet. On your left you’ll find the controls for the sound, information, full screen and Auto Play - should your fingers get tired of spinning the reels manually. In the middle of the screen you’ll find the controls for your bet levels, starting at 1 and going up to 3 with your maximum bet being 2400 and your minimum bet being 40. Being a fairly classic game I was quite surprised by the features 40 Burning Hot offers, such as the Scatter feature. With two Scatter symbols, you have a pretty good chance of forming a Scatter win. The only difference between the two is that the dollar sign Scatter can appear on all reels, while the purple star Scatter can only appear on reels 1,3 and 5.
Unique Features
40 Burning Hot has some unique features which can really help you increase your winnings. The Gamble featureThis feature allows you to gamble your current winnings. It usually takes the form of guessing what color and/or suit a facedown card will reveal itself to be. A correct guess on the color pays 2x, while a correct guess of the color and suit pays 4x your bet. appears after a winning combo is formed in the win display. You’ll be able to choose whether or not you want to play this bonus round - although I highly recommend that you do. It’s honestly pretty simple but gives you the chance to double your wins. All you have to do is choose whether or not the next card to be drawn will be black or red. A correct guess will result in a win, but one wrong guess will lose you all of your wins and send you back to the base game. You can leave the Gamble featureThis feature allows you to gamble your current winnings. It usually takes the form of guessing what color and/or suit a facedown card will reveal itself to be. A correct guess on the color pays 2x, while a correct guess of the color and suit pays 4x your bet. at any point, just by hitting the ‘collect’ button to receive your winnings. 40 Burning Hot also features a randomly triggered bonus round, Jackpot Cards Mystery. This bonus round has four levels, Clubs being the first level, Diamond the second, Heart the third and Spades the fourth. Once the feature is triggered you’ll have to choose from 12 cards, all face down, until you reveal 3 matching suits - after which a prize will be awarded accordingly.
Performance
This game performs really well, like REALLY well. After testing it on all of my devices, I have to say that I liked it that most on my laptop. The interface can be a little clumsy on a tablet, and I just find my mobile phone’s screen a bit too small. With that being said, the graphics are excellent - with symbols so shiny I was tempted to reach out my tongue and lick the screen - and the soundtrack is reminiscent of an old-school slot machine.
Conclusion
40 Burning Hot by EGT Interactive might not be the fanciest game released this year, but it certainly triggered the most nostalgia in me. There’s something strangely sweet about it so sink your teeth in, because this slot will trap you like taffy on a hot summer’s day.
