Goons Gone Wild Slot Review

Imagine a sport that’s a mix between MMA, WWE, the NFL, and Lacrosse. It sounds pretty brutal and intense, right? Well, that’s ice hockey, and don’t forget you have to balance on a 3-4 mm razor-sharp blade while playing it. 🪒No big deal!

Hockey is my favorite sport and despite realizing how I just described it, I love playing it. 🏒For some reason, I’ve been lucky enough to keep all my teeth. Oh man, I hope I didn’t just jinx anything.

I’m sure there are players in Goons Gone Wild slot by Pear Fiction/Quickfire with teeth missing. 🦷

Gameplay

This game is set on a hockey rink and you can see both the ice as well as the boards in the background. Fans are sitting behind the glass, cheering you on. The 5x3 reels offer 243 paylines but can reach a maximum of 7,776 paylines.

Above the reels are three hockey players, each representing one of the three bonus game modes. I’ll cover all of them in the Feature section below. Btw, these players are hilarious and talk smack throughout the game.

In between the players and the reels is a thinner horizontal reel, where you will find Split symbols. These are the ones in charge of expanding the reels and I will tell you more about how that works a bit later as well.

To the left of the reels is the game's logo as well as the five jackpots: the Micro pays 10x, the Mini pays 20x, the Minor pays 500x, the Major pays 500x, and the Mega Jackpot pays 5,000x your bet. You can also spot the Buy Bonus button in the very top right corner.
As for the stats this game is built on, I’d say they’re quite standard. There is a 96.02% RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.

RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate.
, a 5,000x max multiplier, a very high volatility rate, and a $250,000 max win. Given the risk, I would’ve liked to see a higher max win.

This game accepts fiat currency, with the exception of the yen and ruble.

Features

SPLIT SYMBOLS
You will find the Split symbols on the smaller horizontal reel, just above the others. When a Split symbol lands, it will add 1, 2, or 3 rows to the reel it lands on, expanding the reel up to 6 rows in total.

MULTIPLIER
Your multiplier starts at 1x and increases with each multiplier symbol that lands on the reels. You can see your total multiplier to the right of reel 5, and it maxes out at 10x.
When a Collect symbol lands on reel 5, the total value of all Cash Value symbols on the screen is multiplied by the multiplier and awarded.
Note that the multiplier does not apply to regular payline wins and will reset to 1x once it’s been used.
COLLECT

The Cash Value symbol looks like a hockey puck and appears on reels 1-4. It can bring a value of 0.2x up to 10x your bet. They are only available in the base game.

When a Collect symbol lands on reel 5, the total value of all Cash Value symbols on screen is multiplied by the Multiplier and sent straight to you.

LOCK’N WIN

There’s a hockey glove symbol in the base game known as the Pot symbol, and it comes in 3 different colors: red, yellow, and pink. When one lands, it flies up and punches a hockey player in the face - the one who wears the same color.

Whenever one or more Pot symbols appear, there is a chance it could trigger the Lock’n Win feature. The combination of Pot symbols that are collected when the Lock’n Win is triggered, determines which features are awarded.

The three possibilities are:
Multiply Lock’n Win
Jackpot Lock’n Win
Supreme Lock’n Win
The Lock’n Win feature is a variation of the Hold and WinThis feature plays out on a new screen. Typically, you get 3 re-spins (which could be re-triggered), and the triggering symbols usually stick to the position on which they land. Your objective is to land as many symbols as possible on the grid (you could land blank tiles, too). game.

Multiply Lock’n Win

This feature can be triggered if you land a red Pot symbol, and your multiplier will start at 2x. The only symbols in play are Cash Value symbols and Multipliers, and the Multipliers can be 2x to 100x your bet.
When a Multiplier lands, it will be added to your total win multiplier, and when a Cash Value symbol lands, it gets multiplied by your current multiplier.
If Multiply Lock’n Win and Supreme Lock’n Win are combined, the maximum multiplier that can land is 10x.

Jackpot Lock’n Win

The Jackpot Lock’n Win feature can be triggered by hitting a yellow Pot symbol. Each Jackpot has a certain number of respective symbols needed for you to win it. When all symbols have been collected for a Jackpot, the corresponding Jackpot is awarded.

You can see how many symbols each Jackpot requires you to land. For example, the Micro Jackpot needs 2 symbols to land, while you need 5 Major Jackpot symbols to win the Major Jackpot.

You can win more than one Jackpot in this feature, which is pretty nice.

Supreme Lock’n Win

The way to possibly trigger the Supreme Lock’n Win feature is by landing a pink hockey glove. In this version, landing a red Cash Value symbol will collect all yellow Cash Value symbols.
If you land a purple Cash Value symbol, all yellow and red Cash Value symbols will be collected.

BUY BONUS
If you want to use the Buy Bonus, you will have as many as 7 different options:

Multiply Lock’n Win costs 30.10x your bet
Jackpot Lock’n Win costs 36.40x your bet
Supreme Lock’n Win costs 23.90x your bet
Multiply + Jackpot Lock’n Win cost is 56.85x your bet
Jackpot + Supreme Lock’n Win cost is 53.10x your bet
Multiply + Supreme Lock’n Win cost is 55.40x your bet
Multiply + Jackpot + Supreme Lock’n Win cost is 71.70x your bet

Performance

I wouldn’t want to fight these hockey players, so I’m glad that I didn’t have any problems playing the game.

Max Win

You can bet as low as $0.20 but if you want to take a swing at the $250,000 top prize, you’ll need to bet $50 and merge it with the 5,000x max multiplier.
Conclusion

It’s not often an ice hockey game gets released, so this was fun to see. The game is also a lot more creative than most and I love the chirping amongst the players. That part is very authentic to the sport.

So what are the chances of making some money? Well, you won’t make as much as an NHL player but you can still pick up some decent wins. Your best chances will come in one of the Lock’n Win features, especially if you can combine all three versions at once.

The Split symbols are effective when they open up the reels to a full 6 rows, which can be really helpful. I also like that you can pocket multiple Jackpots in the same feature. I think this is a fun game to play if you’re looking for something out of the ordinary and I’ll be coming back for more.
