Lucky Coin Slot Review
It's a dangerous journey down the rabbit hole when we label an item “lucky” in our mind. As gamblers, we are more prone to falling prey to the idea a talisman bringing us luck. I can't criticise anyone who has a lucky object though – for years I had one of my own: My lucky black shirt! Threadbare to begin with, this increasingly embarrassing shirt brought me untold good fortune until the fateful day that my then girlfriend threw it out. I couldn't blame her because I had never told anyone it was my lucky shirt, for fear of ridicule. It was however forever to be a wedge between us, and she got the old heave-ho shortly after my ensuing losing streak. While everything logical tells me that the losing streak was coincidental, I have my doubts. Lucky Coin is an Amatic video slot based on a similar principle, but it just sounds a lot better than “Lucky Black Shirt”. This superstition based video slot works across all devices and platforms, but which one will be lucky for you? Everything about this game is steeped in the Orient. As such, I couldn't help getting swept away with stereotypical images of Asian gambling halls and possibly fighting off kung-fu gangsters in the alley behind. Ok, maybe I've watched too many movies…
Lucky Coin is a 5 reel 10 payline slot, providing some massive winning chances. The symbols are mostly Oriental and include: a Lotus flower, Japanese lady, dragons, fish, frog, and coins. Rounding them off are high card letters. The Japanese woman is the wild and can substitute for all symbols except the scatter, which are the gold coins. The control panel is very uncluttered and appealing. At the bottom, there are Balance, Total Win, and Bet Amount Displays. Underneath that are the Autostart, Exit, Gamble, Bet and Start buttons, while up top the Paytable Info can be found. The Autoplay is unfortunately basic and there is no Quickspin, but to be honest these shortcomings never really affected my enjoyment.
Scatters pay on any position and when you land 3 of them you get 15 free spins, all with a 3x multiplier! In regular play, there is a gamble option in which you can either choose card color (x2) or color and suit (x4). The best part about Amatics Gamble function is that you can decrease your bet if you don't want to risk your entire profit.
When the wild substitutes for a symbol it doubles your winnings! I gotta admit, this was a nifty addition.
The graphics are simple and while the music does the job, as with all slots, it becomes tedious after a long stretch. I'd like to see Amatic mix up their sound effects a bit from game to game, but considering I mute most games after 30 minutes, it doesn't really matter. On every device, I tested Lucky Coin got top marks for performance.
At first glance, this looks like a simple slot with limited offerings. Delve a little deeper however and you find a hidden gem with some innovative player rewards. I was pleasantly surprised and I think you won't regret giving it a try. That is provided you have your lucky token in your pocket…
