Spellmaster Slot Review

Who would’ve thought that starting your career with card tricks and pulling rabbits 🐇 out of hats could be so lucrative?

David Copperfield is reported to have made close to $1 billion, the Penn and Teller dudes are said to have amassed $100 to $200 million each, while Cross Angel is reported to have raked in $50 million. 😳🤩

That’s a fair bit of pocket change, which pales in comparison with the $320,000 you can win in Spellmaster slot from Pragmatic Play, but it’s all relative. That kinda money would be life-changing for me, but is it realistic to think it’s winnable? Let’s find out. 🔎

Gameplay

This 5-reel game finds itself in a room with a skylight and some burning torches – it’s all very mystical, which is how it should be.

To the right of the screen are the Jackpots. The Mini pays 12.5x, the Minor pays 30x, the Major pays 125x, the Mega pays 1,000x, and the Grand Jackpot pays 1,875x. That’s not quite as much moolah as I was expecting from this game, as the volatility rate is very high.

Above the reels are some modifiers (Charge, Jackpots, Multiply), but I’ll get into these later on in the Features section.

Stats-wise, there are 50 paylines, the max multiplier is an eye-watering 40,000x, and the max win is $320,000.

However, the max win hit frequency is 1 in 24,199,902 – the odds of triggering this win are extraordinarily rare. It’s like randomly selecting a specific person from the entire population of Australia. So, best you put any thought of capturing this win out of your mind.

The only currency you can’t play with is the Japanese yen; all the rest are good to go.

The Wild is a sorcerer, who you’ll see when the game first fires up. Wilds replace all symbols that aren’t Bonus Orbs or Money symbols. You’ll only see Wilds in the base game on reels 2 to 5.

The game looks OK on a phone in portrait mode, but it’s better in landscape. You get the usual Pragmatic mobile things – such as a battery saver, and the ability to place the SPIN button where you want.

Features

BONUS ORBS:

Now let’s talk about the various types of Orbs. Orb collection happens at the end of a spin and can randomly award 1 to 3 modifiers (the ones I mentioned earlier).

Golden Orb:
When this one hits, it gets collected by the Jackpots element above the reels. That action could mean that it randomly triggers a Re-spin. Re-spins with an active Golden Orb result in the grid increasing to 5x6 (it’s usually 5x3) and each Golden Orb that hits reveals a random Jackpot.

Collect 3 of the same Jackpot and you’ll be awarded its prize.

Red Orb:
When a Red Orb hits, it’ll be collected in the Multiply element above the reels. The collection can also trigger a Re-spin, which means that each Red Orb can randomly award a multiplier value for up to 10 Money symbols that are currently on the grid.

For the first 9 Money symbols, the multiplier will be 2x, but the 10th Money symbol’s value could be 2x to 10x. The same Money symbols can be multiplied up to 4 times per Re-spin.

Blue Orb:
This one will collect in the Charge element above the reels. Collection can randomly trigger a Re-spin where each Blue Orb that lands will randomly select a visible Money and it’ll boost its value by a random amount (0.3x, 0.6x, 0.9x, 1.2x, 1.8x, 2.4x, 3x – 6x, 12.5x, or 25x).

HOLD AND WIN:

Pragmatic calls this the Re-spins feature, but it’s a Hold and WinThis feature plays out on a new screen. Typically, you get 3 re-spins (which could be re-triggered), and the triggering symbols usually stick to the position on which they land. Your objective is to land as many symbols as possible on the grid (you could land blank tiles, too). that gets triggered when all three Orbs land simultaneously. Then one (or more) will activate their modifiers.

Money symbols only land in the Re-spin feature and carry values of 0.3x, 0.6x, 0.9x, 1.2x, 1.8x, 2.4x, 3x – 6x, 12.5x, or 25x. Only Money symbols and Orbs will hit while the feature is playing.

Modifiers that weren’t initially active could still activate due to Bonus Orbs being collected. You get the usual 3 re-spins to start with and Money symbols are sticky.

If you fill all of the grid positions, you won’t win the Grand Jackpot, as would be the case with a typical Hold and WinThis feature plays out on a new screen. Typically, you get 3 re-spins (which could be re-triggered), and the triggering symbols usually stick to the position on which they land. Your objective is to land as many symbols as possible on the grid (you could land blank tiles, too).… oh, no, you’ll win the 40,000x max multiplier.

BUY BONUS:

It costs 50x to access the Hold and WinThis feature plays out on a new screen. Typically, you get 3 re-spins (which could be re-triggered), and the triggering symbols usually stick to the position on which they land. Your objective is to land as many symbols as possible on the grid (you could land blank tiles, too). game immediately.

Performance

I didn’t encounter any technical issues while testing this game.

Maximum Win

The max multiplier is 40,000x, and the max win is $320,000. Betting starts at $0.20 and you only need to place a bet of $8 to be in line for the $320k!

Conclusion

The base game’s organic hit frequency is 1 in 3.66, which is handy as it keeps the money coming quite regularly (the amounts will be small, due to the volatility rate).

Triggering the Hold and WinThis feature plays out on a new screen. Typically, you get 3 re-spins (which could be re-triggered), and the triggering symbols usually stick to the position on which they land. Your objective is to land as many symbols as possible on the grid (you could land blank tiles, too). game organically happens once in 69.32 spins, which is also pretty damn good. So, the base game ticks over but the real money is tied up in the game’s main feature.

The question is: do we use the Buy Bonus or not? It’s not a crazy amount of money, and it does unlock the full money-making potential, but a couple of weak returns can drain a bankroll quick smart.

I’d say the Buy Bonus is something to consider for short-term play. If you’re looking to play for a longer time, then the decent organic triggering is probably better (in my opinion, at least).
