Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the 1975 comedy directed by Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones, remains one of the most recognisable parodies of Arthurian legend ever put to screen, mainly because it treats medieval mythology with all the seriousness of a drunken pub quiz.

Its retelling of King Arthur’s quest is stuffed with brilliantly absurd moments, none more memorable than the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, casually lobbed to dispatch the “killer rabbit of Caerbannog,” a creature so ferocious that real warfare looks like amateur hour.

The moment I first saw that title when Print Studios released the original, I couldn’t help but think of that scene, and this sequel leans into the same flavour of cheerful chaos. The only question now is whether the Holy Hand Grenade 2 slot lives up to its wonderfully unhinged predecessor.

Is the Holy Hand Grenade 2 holier than thou?

The Holy Hand Grenade 2 slot feels like the moment a cult classic gets a bigger budget and an even more unhinged finale. You still get the same core recipe as the original with the SuperSpinners between the reels, grid expansion in free spins, and those chain-reacting Holy Hand Grenades. 

The free spins round is more layered thanks to the coloured frames, extra explosions, and the way Holy Hand Grenades can re-trigger from marked positions. The goat jackpot feature also adds another way for the slot to go off suddenly.

The max win does technically drop from $400,000 in the original to $240,000 here, but the maximum multiplier jumps from 20,000x to 30,000x, and that alone makes me more inclined to shift my play to this new iteration. All in all, I give the Holy Hand Grenade 2 slot a ten out of ten.
