Remember Morbius? That Marvel-adjacent movie with Jared Leto that was so spectacularly shit it somehow became an internet sensation? The memes were so popular that Sony actually put the film back in cinemas, apparently under the impression that millions of people joking about how terrible it was meant they wanted to pay to see it. Unsurprisingly, it bombed a second time. If nothing else, you’ve got to admire that level of corporate stupidity.
Well, it looks like Morbius has finally found work again, this time moonlighting as an Egyptian god in BGaming‘s Khonsu Merge Up slot. While definitely not Sony-approved, at least this time there’s a chance someone might actually enjoy the experience.
It’s Morbin’ time
The Khonsu Merge Up slot from BGaming features a 6×4 grid with a minimum of 4,096 ways to win, which can increase considerably, thanks to the game’s Split symbols. Betting starts at just $0.10 and tops out at $29 per spin. With a maximum multiplier of 10,000x, playing at the highest stake gives you a shot at winning up to $290,000.
The game features very high volatility, so you can expect fewer small, consistent wins as you chase bigger paydays. Its theoretical RTP is 96.06%.

At the heart of the gameplay is the refilling mechanic, which works similarly to cascading reels. Winning symbols disappear, and the remaining symbols drop into the empty positions, allowing new symbols to be introduced from the top.
Each successive refill also increases the multiplier held in Khonsu’s hands by 2x, with the current multiplier applied to any winning combination formed during that refill. As you might imagine, a particularly long winning streak could grow that multiplier considerably.
The game also features a Merge Up mechanic that combines symbols in a winning combination into a single higher-value symbol. This new symbol is then placed in one of the empty positions, potentially helping to create more valuable combinations as the reels continue to refill.
Split symbols can appear on reels two through five. When one lands, it splits into a random number of identical symbols, up to a maximum of six, increasing the number of matching symbols occupying that reel and that spin’s possible ways to win.
Landing three or more scatter symbols triggers one of two free spins bonuses. Three scatters award eight free spins, while four award ten. Landing five or six scatter symbols will trigger the Super Free Spins feature, awarding 12 and 14 free spins, respectively.

During a round of regular free spins, winning refills contribute to a progress bar with segments tied to different symbols. Each winning refill fills a segment by one-quarter, and completing a segment awards two additional free spins and lets its associated symbol split into multiple identical symbols.
A round of Super Free Spins works similarly, although completing a progress bar segment transforms the associated symbol into a wild instead. You still receive two additional free spins for each completed segment, and the upgrades remain active throughout the bonus.
If you don’t fancy waiting for the scatter symbols to appear on their own, the Khonsu Merge Up also offers a number of Buy Bonus options.
Does Khonsu Merge Up slot shed its Morbius comparison
There’s a reason my mind went to Morbius. The character design from the Khonsu Merge Up slot looks like someone prompted an AI image generator to combine Jared Leto’s Morbius with an ancient Egyptian fashion model. I’m not completely mad about it, but it does feel a little lifeless. Like BGaming were just trying to get their annual Egyptian-themed slot out the door.
Where the graphics land a little damp, the bonus features are pretty interesting. Plenty happens during both the base game and the slot’s two rounds of free spins. I wouldn’t mind the mechanics being skinned with something that doesn’t remind me of the worst movie in the last decade.
I give the Khonsu Merge Up slot a seven out of ten.
