40 Lucky King Slot Review
OK – I have to admit I'm a little hesitant about the next slot. So often, I've found in entertainment and games that slapping a crown on a character and making them royalty is a cheap way to add some regal appeal.
Why is the handsome stranger in so many fairy tales and romances a prince?
Why do we find benign stories revolving around royals so interesting?
C'mon people – they're just like us – they gotta put their pants on one leg at a time. Even they have to sit on the loo and presumably wipe all by themselves afterwards. (If not – then this is a cruel world and someone's got a crappy job.)
40 Lucky King is an Amusnet Games progressive video slot designed to work on PC, mobile device or tablet. The first thing that struck me about this game was the appearance of the king himself – a dead ringer for actor Zach Galifianakis (the guy from the Hangover films). So, after that, it was kinda tough for me to take him seriously as a monarch.
Following that initial hiccup, I'd have to say my impression of the slot was “busy.” It's got a lot going on and seems to be a fruit slot on steroids. There's more of an everyman feeling to this game than a regal one – but hey, maybe that's why they chose Zach as king?
Gameplay
40 Lucky King is a 5 reel slot with yes, you guessed it – 40 paylines. In future EGT: please don't give away the paylines in the title – leave a little mystery. The volatility of this slot is low, so expect lots of small wins on your way to, hopefully, a massive jackpot. The standard symbols are a somewhat tired array of usual slot favorites: lucky 7's, grapes, plums, orange, bell, watermelon, lemons and cherries.
The wild is the king who appears on reels 2-4 only and can replace all symbols except for the scatter, which is a dollar sign.
The ever-increasing Progressive Jackpot amounts are on either side of the game title, while the rest of the controls are lined up below the reels: Balance, Info (including Paytable), Autoplay, Credit, various Bet Adjustors and Last Win. The start button is a tiny line underneath your selected bet amount. I'm not a fan of this – the first time I played an EGT game, I sat for far too long trying to find it (then feeling stupid).
The king has decreed that there is no Turbospin in this game.

After each winning spin in regular play, there is a Gamble option which is a simple double or nothing bet with your profits on card color.

Jackpot Cards Mystery Bonus: There is a 4 Level Mystery Jackpot. Each level corresponds to a card suit, with the current value displayed atop. The Maximum Win in 40 Lucky King would most likely be whatever the highest Progressive Jackpot amount is at the time.
Performance
I can't say anything nice or nasty about the graphics, music or sound effects– they're pretty pedestrian but do the job well enough. Nothing stands out to be complimented or insulted.
The performance of 40 Lucky King is another matter though, and I can gush here: It never missed a beat and there were no lags in gameplay or while updating the Progressive Jackpot amounts,
Conclusion
Look Zach, don't take it personally – I'm a big fan of your movies, so I gave this slot a try. I had fun but would probably only return if the Progressive Jackpot stood at an eye-opening amount.
But for those of you looking for a mixture of an old-fashioned fruit slot with some serious massive Jackpot winning potential, then this may well be a winner in your book.
