Age of Troy Slot Review

Greek mythology is full of some seriously wacky stories, but none more so than the story of when an entire army snuck into a city inside a big wooden horse. I’ve always wondered how exactly the Greeks managed to dupe the city of Troy into believing that the Trojan Horse was, in fact, an offering to Athena, rather than a predictable plot to get into their heavily guarded city. Most armies don’t suddenly abandon a siege after 10 years, leave a peace offering to the Goddess of War, and never speak of the situation again - so why would the Greeks be any different? The whole thing is just a little too shady for my liking.

Gameplay

Age of Troy is a 5 reel, 20 payline video slot powered by software from Amusnet Games. There are a lot of symbols here so we should probably get started. Much like you’d expect, Age of Troy has a Wild symbol, represented by a Trojan Horse, which can replace every other symbol besides the Scatter, represented by a Greek temple. Other symbols include a fetching young lady - who I assume is Helen of Troy, a Greek soldier, a feathered helmet, a warship, a horn with gold coins cascading out of it, an urn, a green ‘Q,’ a red ‘K,’ and a yellow ‘A.' EGT Interactive controls are pretty self-explanatory, but I’ll give you a run down just in case you’ve recently been run over by a Trojan Horse. Before embarking on this life-changing adventure, you should probably choose your bet. There are 5 bets, ranging from 20 to 400, situated under the reels. Clicking on any of them will immediately start the reels spinning, negating the need for an individual spin control. If clicking your mouse starts to become your Achilles heel, you’ll be thrilled to know that Age of Troy has an Auto Play control which will spin your reels automatically, based on your most recent bet. To the left of the screen, you’ll also find the toggle for the sound, the info and full-screen buttons and a display showing your total balance. To the right of the screen, you’ll see the home button as well as your total wins.

Features

Age of Troy has a particularly exciting Scatter feature. Landing three Scatters on the reels will award you 12 Free Spins which can then be re-triggered, potentially doubling or even tripling your original number of Spins. This is a pretty sneaky feature, so watch out for it - it has the potential of increasing your winnings by the Trojan Horse-load. I’d strap that feathered helmet on tight because you never know when this feature will hit.

Unique Features

Jackpot Cards Mystery is a randomly triggered bonus round, featuring four levels. Although it doesn’t appear too often, it’s a lot of fun, so I recommend playing it when you have the opportunity. Once this feature is triggered you’ll be given the option to choose from 12 cards, all face down and all with different levels. Choose 3 matching suits, either Club, Diamond, Heart or Spade, and you’ll be awarded a prize according to the suit’s level. Age of Troy also features a Gamble bonus round, which appears after a winning combo is formed in the win display. Clicking on the ‘Gamble’ button will take you to a card flip. All you have to do is guess whether the next card to be flipped will be black or red. Guess correctly, and you increase your winnings, but get it wrong, and you’ll lose all your winnings from that round and be sent back to the base camp. Whoops, I mean base game.

Performance

Unlike the Ancient Greeks, I really don’t feel the need to complain about the Age of Troy. This is a delightful game. With fantastic graphics, excellent gameplay, and a very suitable soundtrack, this slot really does sneak up on you. I was totally satisfied with how it performed on all of my devices, including my mobile phone, which surprised me given the enormity of the Trojan Horse and the tale of Troy.

Conclusion

Age of Troy is a game of mythological proportions. With fighting-good graphics, a godly win rate, and Miss Helen of Troy on the reels to guide you through it all - it really has everything you could possibly want in a slot, so don’t abandon this one at the gates.
