All About The Bass Slot Review

One of my good buddies is an avid fisherman🎣. He goes fishing whenever the opportunity arises, and he is determined to get me to join himđŸ«Ł.

But he enjoys fishing off the ocean shore. And I know how easy it is to get hurt tackling the ocean🌊.

First, reaching your fishing spot is not an easy task. It’s a walk over dunes, trekking through bush, and navigating across rocks and rock pools to end up with a precarious footing on some outcrop where waves threaten your balance constantly.

Then you have to handle the tackle and hooks. I once had to cut someone else’s hook out of my own hand, and I did not enjoy the experienceđŸ€•.

So as much as I like cooking and eating seafood, I hate fishing. My buddy can keep fishing without me. And Quickfire can keep their All About The Bass slot too.

Gameplay

So we’re once again back in the realm of bass fishing, but this isn’t one of Pragmatic Play’s Big Bass titles.

No, this time it’s Quickfire Games’ turn to show us where the best fishing is in their latest medium-volatility bass fishing entry, All About The Bass slot.

The title instantly reminded me of that annoying pop song by Meghan Trainor, which I won’t deny did not curry any favor with me, but then I started up the game, and I wished I could apologize directly to my eyeballs.

The Big Bass series of games is not visually stunning, so the developers had all the room in the world to improve on this genre of slot aesthetic. But chose not to. Instead, they’re relying on its features.

Which were unimaginatively called Feature and All About The Bonus. But I’m getting ahead of myself.

All About The Bass slot has 5 reels, 3 rows, and 21 paylines to land matching symbols on from left to right.

The high-paying symbols are 4 human characters: a ginger-headed fisherman, a gray-bearded fisherman, a blonde fisherman, and a lady with a spear gun.

Without intending to be misogynistic, I laughed at the girl with a speargun meant to be fishing off a boat.

Above the reels, you’ll see an additional row that is usually filled with dud symbols that don’t pay or do anything. This reel and the fish swimming under the reels come into play during the All About The Bass feature.

Again, I’ll get to the features below. Let’s go over the other symbols you’ll be encountering in the base game.

There are a few Wild symbols in this slot. The first is your typical Wild symbol, which stands in for paying symbols. Then there is a fishing lure Wild symbol that carries a 2x multiplier that appears on reels 1, 3, and 5.

The 3x Wild only appears on reels 2 and 4. Whenever a Multiplier Wild participates in a winning payline, the prize is multiplied by the Wild’s value before being awarded.

The Scatter symbol here is a fishing trophy that will award the Bonus Game if you land 3 or more.

This is a fiat currency-only slot, with the exception of the Japanese yen and Russian ruble. You can place a bet as low as $0.25 or as high as $25.

There is an epix top multiplier of 9,009.2x, which can lead to the game’s maximum prize of $225,230. Which is an extremely impressive prize for a medium-volatility game. Lastly, this has an RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.

RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate.

Features

ALL ABOUT THE BASS FEATURE

This feature is only triggered in the base game when one of the Boat symbols lands on the special row above the reels and a Hook symbol appears on the reel directly beneath it.

When these two symbols line up, you’re awarded one of the Fish prizes below the game grid.

  • The Small Fish symbol can award you 4x to 10.4x your bet.
  • The Medium Fish symbol can award 14x to 40x your bet.
  • The Large Fish symbol awards 47x to 91x your bet. The Mega Fish symbol awards you 160x to 960x your bet.
  • There is also a Special Fish symbol that can award different prizes:
  • Collect All: Awards all 5 Fish symbol values under the reels.
  • Instant Bonus: Triggers the All About The Bonus feature.
  • 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, and 10x: Will multiply the prize.

On any base game spin, fish symbols move over one position randomly from right to left. If 1 of the Multiplier Wilds lands on the same reel as the All About The Bass feature, the Fish Prize is also multiplied.

Any Fish prize that is awarded is replaced with the same prize or higher.

ALL ABOUT THE BONUS FEATURE

When 3 or more Scatters land in the base game, you’ll trigger All About The Bonus.

All positions on the reels are replaced with a cash prize ranging from 0.4x to 6x your bet and special feature symbols that trigger whenever a fish symbol lands on them.

  • Retrigger symbol: Multiplies the number of Bonus Spins you have left by the Fish symbol multiplier to give you a new total of spins left.
  • Credit Boost symbol: When activated, this symbol increases all the cash prizes on the reels by 0.20x.
  • Row symbol: Activates all the positions on the same row.
  • Column symbol: Activates all the positions on the same reel.
  • Orthogonal symbol: Activates all the positions to the left, right, top, and bottom of its position.

You start the feature with 5 Bonus Spins, and on every spin, 1 or more Fish symbols with 2x, 3x, 4x, or 5x multipliers randomly land on the game grid, multiplying and awarding the cash prize it lands on or activating the special feature symbol.

All positions that are activated are awarded that Bonus Spin. Fish symbols are not removed and are considered inactive after awarding the prize.

The biggest cash prize for any position, including multipliers and Credit Boosts, is 1,800x your total bet.

Performance

I tested All About The Bass slot on my Windows laptop and Android phone and didn’t encounter any issues while I played.

Maximum Win

This is an incredibly generous slot, paying out a top prize of $225,230. It will cost you the highest bet of $25 per spin, and you’ll need to hit the game’s best possible multiplier of 9,009.2x to win it. Or you could place the minimum bet of $0.25.

Conclusion

The All About The Bass feature available in the base game is essentially a Collector feature, which requires a symbol to land above a reel and another symbol to appear on the reel below to win a random prize from under the reel.

I don’t particularly like it because, while uncomplicated, it is too random to reliably win.

The Bonus Game is also uncomplicated, but it’s also just as random. Landing Multiplier symbols on prizes to win them, activating a special symbol’s feature to hopefully collect more prizes, or extending your game with additional spins.

I can totally see how these features should dial up the excitement in a frankly inspired slot, but they’re actually more frustrating than fun.

The cash prizes can reach impressive values, but more often than not, they don’t payout before the opportunity to win them passes. So you’re mostly receiving very small rewards for a lot of spins.

The Big Bass slot series may be prolific and remix the same ideas, like the progress bar, in less than compelling ways at times, but if you’re looking for a fishing-themed slot, there are more than enough versions that have something that would catch your attention.

Unlike this bland experience, I couldn’t wait to stop playing. The main prize may be impressive, but the game is not and hanging on long enough to win it will probably cost you more than is palatable for most players.
