Birds of paradise... freshwater dolphins... trees so tall you can’t see their highest branches and, god only knows what else. I’ve never been massively adventurous, but I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for the Amazon forest and all of the strange, wacky and wild creatures it contains. Covering 2.1 million square miles, we could never be so arrogant as to believe that we know precisely what, and who, lurks on those dense forest floors and, to be completely honest, that scares me a little. I scream at the sight of your average, garden-variety spider so how exactly would I cope in that dark underbrush? Luckily, living in cushy suburbia, that’s not something I have to think about too often. Even so, I was really excited about Amazing Amazonia, a new release by the software provider Amusnet Games. Would it be as danger-filled and adrenaline-inducing as I was hoping? I put on my best khaki outfit and hit the slots - ready for anything they would throw at me.

Gameplay

Amazing Amazonia is a 5 reel, 10 payline video slot that is incredibly ambitious. I’m talking Gifs here, people - moving images. With tons of symbols, you’re not going to be left short of things to keep you entertained - so let’s get into it. Like most slots, Amazing Amazonia features a Wild symbol, represented by a picture of the Amazon river which transforms into a Gif once triggered. Other symbols include a cheetah, a sloth, a frog, a hummingbird, a bird of paradise, an otter, a blue “J,” a purple “Q,” a salamander, and a butterfly which represents the Scatter feature. All EGT interactive slots have relatively similar controls, but I’ll run through them quickly, we wouldn’t want you to have to look something up for yourself. At first glance, Amazing Amazonia seems like a pretty basic game but, boy oh boy, was I wrong. The Scatter feature is something truly remarkable, allowing you 20 free spins if you land three Scatter symbols and multiplying your wins by up to three times the original number.

Unique Features

EGT Interactive really love bonus rounds. They seem to be having a bit of a love affair with them as of late, and I’m not complaining. Really all you need to do in this bonus game is guess whether the next card will be red or black - a correct guess increases your winnings while guessing the wrong color card will automatically lose you all of your wins. However, you can collect your winnings after any card your pull, so if you feel like your luck is running out hit the “collect” button and you’ll be taken back to the base game.

Performance

Amazing Amazonia is a tremendously superior game. With outstanding graphics including gifs, bright colors, and lifelike animals as symbols, this game really isn’t one to miss. The soundtrack features noises you’d expect to hear while moving over the murky forest floor and further adds to the theme. After running it through all of our performance tests, I found that it worked well on every device, but try it out on your tablet for a truly interactive experience.

Conclusion

I kind of thought that the Amazon theme was a bit overdone, but EGT Interactive really reinvigorated this genre with Amazing Amazonian. It meets every expectation and is a massive treat for the senses. From the outstanding graphics to the user-friendly interface this game, unlike the gigantic rain spiders lurking on the forest floor, is not one to be missed.
