I was brought up with Alsatians and until recently, I volunteered at a Pit Bull rescue shelter. I like my dogs large and in charge, rather than those annoying, miniature turd machines.

But that’s not to say I don’t love cats, too. I had a beautiful Sphynx which changed my mind about felines, so it was with some horror that I played Angry Dogs slot from GameArt.

Gameplay

Angry Dogs slot has a nice gritty feel to the design, and it comes with some super animations that make it a joy to behold.

That’s not exactly the case when you’re playing this game in portrait mode on a phone. The grid and reels are small, and while you can still see what’s up, the background overwhelms everything. Thankfully, landscape mode saves the day so you can still play this one on the go.

MYSTERY DOGHOUSE:
This stack of 4 symbols can land anywhere on the grid and when they do, they unveil either a paying symbol or a Golden Bulldog symbol – more on that below.

You’ll initiate the Bonus game when you land 3 or more dog collar Scatters. And that’s also when you see the Bulldog running after the black cat and them ending up in a boxing match. Avert your eyes, Animal Rights peeps!

The Bonus game means you’ll score unlimited FREE SPINS with an INCREASING MULTIPLIER. That multiplier – which can be 1x, 2x, 3x, 5x, 7x, or 10x – will be revealed at the start of the round, and you’ll need to pick 1 of 3 posters to see what you’ll be getting. Reels 2 and 4 will also be filled with Mystery Doghouse symbols.

The total multiplier value increases with each spin and every win will be multiplied by that total multiplier value. The Bonus round ends when there are no longer any Mystery Doghouse symbols on the reels.

SYMBOLS:
The various symbols you’ll see during this game include the Scatter and Mystery Doghouse, which we spoke about. You’ll also come across the +1 Collar symbol, which only lands during the Bonus round. It nudges the Mystery Doghouse symbols by 1 position.

Then there’s the Wild, in the form of a Bulldog against a red “W”. They replace all other symbols except the Scatter and Golden Bulldog.

When the Golden Bulldog lands during a Mystery Doghouse stack, it will initiate the Golden reveal feature. In other words, each landed Golden Bulldog can become a Scatter or a Bet Multiplier Paw.

The Bet Multiplier Paw can bring in different values, depending on its grade. You can get a Bronze Paw (1x, 2x, or 5x), a Silver Paw (10x, 25x, or 50x), or a Golden Paw (100x, 250x, 500x, 1,000x, 2,000x, or 2,500x).

Performance

I let the dogs out on both my iPhone and Mac Mini and they ran rampant for hundreds of spins. The end result was not a single issue on either device, and it also didn’t matter which browser I used.

Maximum Win

This will just be a repetition of what I said earlier – unless you skipped straight to this part, you sneaky so and so! The maximum win here is €250,000, courtesy of the 50,000x multiplier.

Conclusion

Angry Dogs slot is a pretty cool game. It’s not overcomplicated in terms of features, but they’ve been re-imagined to feel fresh. At least for the first 200 spins or so.

It means that newbies should enjoy the game, although the volatility could put them off. That volatility, plus the substantial purse and decent RTP, should appeal to the pros so it’s a game that covers a lot of bases.
