Aztec Bonanza Slot Review
Seems like the Aztecs left behind tons of treasure in their lifetime in South America, well that’s if slots are anything to go by. Head to the deepest depths of the South American jungles and discover a totem pole that will make your dreams come true. I always thought (as a kid) that totem poles were pronounced as toe-ten poles to remind us that we have 10 toes.
Gameplay
Aztec Bonanza is a 2-4-6-4-2 up to 5x7 reel, 384 up to 7776 ways to win video slots powered by Pragmatic Play software. The symbols include Card Suits Diamonds, Clubs, Hearts and Spades, a Square Gem, a Moon, Oval Gem and Green Gem. The only Special Symbol is the Mystery Symbol. There are also Bonus Features and a Free Spins Feature. More detail will be provided in the Features section.
Controls are located at the bottom of the reels. Starting from the left you will find a System Settings icon (3 horizontal lines), below that a Mute button and next to that an Information icon with the pay table. On the bottom right is your Spin button with Autoplay below it and Bet increase and decrease buttons.
Features and Unique Features
The features in Aztec Bonanza includes the Tumble Win Mechanic, Mystery Symbol, the Bonus Features and Free Spins Feature.
Side note: If you are familiar with our reviews you will instantly notice that the Features and Unique Feature sections are combined in this review as a unique feature in this game needs to be mentioned first in order to proceed to the rest of the features for them to make sense.
In each corner of the reel grid is a symbol blocker occupying 3 reel positions. The Tumble Win Mechanic is in play on every win, removing the winning symbols replaced by new symbols falling from above. Every 2nd tumble win unlocks one corner of symbol blockers starting with the upper left corner increasing the number of win lines.
A unique feature in this game is that when a corner is unlocked, a Bonus Feature is awarded as follows:
Top Left Corner: Mystery Symbols turn into identical symbols.
Top Right Corner: up to 3 lower value symbols are transformed into higher
value symbols.
Bottom Left Corner: all symbols on the first 2 reels are replaced with 2x2 Mega Symbols.
Bottom Right Corner: all symbols on the last 2 reels are replaced with 2x2 Mega Symbols.
Each time a corner is unblocked, a gemstone in the totem pole on the right of the reels lights up as well. Once all corners are unblocked, the Free Spins Feature is triggered awarding 5 free spins on a fully expanded reel set with 7,776 paylines. Each spin awards one of the Bonus Features at random as well as the Tumble Win Mechanic in play.
Performance
All the features in Aztec Bonanza makes it stand out from other slots of a similar theme. Pragmatic Play delivers outstanding graphics, effects and animations once again. The RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. is at 96.53% with medium-high volatility.
Max Win
The max coin win is 19000x your stake.
Conclusion
Aztec Bonanza is a great addition to the Aztec themed library of slot games. It provides for some great winning potential especially considering the max coin win of 19000x (although it will be very difficult to land this win). Perhaps I should consider a totem pole of ten toes as a great educational toy for kids…
