Benny the Beer Slot Review

That glorious, golden liquid known as beer is said to have roots in ancient Mesopotamia, around 5,000 BC. 🍺

The Sumerians were the original party animals and even had a dedicated goddess of beer – Ninkasi. The secrets to brewing fine ale were set to music and sung in a hymn to the deity.

Imagine going to church and singing along to a recipe about booze. Now, that would be a church I could get behind! 🤘

Homer Simpson and Peter Griffin can’t both be wrong about beer so grab your mug and get ready to guzzle down some ambrosial delights in Benny the Beer slot from Hacksaw. 😵

Gameplay

Beer was arguably the greatest invention in the world – until now, because the new successor to the throne is a beer-themed slot game from Hacksaw!

The design is so freakin’ cool! It’s got that old-school cartoon vibe with Benny and a purple camera (not sure what that’s all about) bopping on either side of the 5x4-reel grid.

And the design also makes for a fantastic mobile experience – just watch out for the Autoplay button hidden behind the chat button on tablets in landscape mode.

Benny and the purple camera are two of the symbols on the grid, and padlocks, alarm clocks, and bombs accompany them.

By far the most remarkable thing about Benny the Beer slot is its 25,000x max multiplier. Goddamn!

That generosity results in a €250,000 prize from a medium volatility game, which is a welcome respite from all the games I’ve seen lately where the studios offer prizes that don’t align with the risk.

The RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.

RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate.
for the game is 96.17%
and you’ll need to play with fiat currency; just not the Japanese yen.

Features

STACKWAYS:

Stackways are a Hacksaw staple and in this game, we have two kinds – Normal Stackways and Revealing Stackways.

  • Normal Stackways: These symbols carry values of 2, 3, or 4.
  • Revealing Stackways: These symbols carry values of 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10.

So, what is the purpose of these values? They determine how many Stackways symbols will be stacked on the reels and it’s this aspect that allows the game to offer up to 100,000 ways to win.

Stacking only happens when a win can result; if more than one winning combo is possible, the longest one will be selected.

However, if two options of equal length are on the cards, one of them will be randomly chosen so that the outcome is fair.

BOOK OF STACKWAYS:

This is the Free Spins round and you’ll need to land 3 Scatters to clinch 10 spins. When the round begins, 2 symbols are randomly chosen to act as Special symbols.

Land one of the Special symbols on at least 3 of the reels simultaneously, and indicators below these reels will show you a number ranging from 2 to 10. The reels will then become stacked with the respective number of chosen symbols.

If more than one Special symbol type lands on 3 reels simultaneously, they’ll pay and stack one type at a time.

You can score additional Free Spins, too: 2 more Scatters = 2 extra spins; 3 more Scatters = 4 more spins.

But if you land 4 Scatters, that’s when you’ll be upgraded to the Super Book of Stackways round and awarded 4 more spins.

SUPER BOOK OF STACKWAYS:

This round can also be triggered from the base game if you land 4 Scatters (you’ll get the usual 10 spins).

This round works the same as Book of Stackways; the only difference is that 4 random symbols will be chosen as Special symbols.

You have a couple of options to choose from:

  • Bonushunt FeatureSpins: Pay 3x your bet and in return, each spin is 5x more likely to trigger a Free Spins round. The Triple Stack’s volatility rate is very high, with the rest being highly volatile.

Performance

Benny the Beer slot performed in a perfectly sober manner throughout testing. It didn’t matter which device I used or if I swapped browsers.

Maximum Win

Yessiree Bob, this is what I like to see: a 25,000x multiplier which means you’ll only have to bet a maximum of €10 to chase down the €250,000 top prize. Or you can bet from as little as €0.10.

Conclusion

Benny the Beer slot continues Hacksaw’s tradition of using old-school cartoon characters. Canny the Can debuted in Drop’Em slot and now we have a mustachioed, rotund, and jovial beer mug.

I love the design language – it’s clean and simple but impactful. And it works great across a multitude of devices.

Benny the Beer slot has some great stats going for it, so it ain’t all about the looks. There’s also the familiarity of Stackways, the many Bonus Buy options, and the generous max multiplier that’s become the stock-in-trade of this studio.

Of course, the flip side is that using the Buy Bonus can get seriously pricey – up to 300x if you opt for the Super Book of Stackways offer – which is also typical of Hacksaw games.

There’s nothing exceptional about stacked symbols but the Hacksaw way makes other studios’ attempts look dated. It just goes to show that you don’t always need to reinvent the wheel; you just need to put some nice rims on it sometimes.
