Big Bass Halloween 2 Slot Review

Bill Murray was bitten 🦷 twice by groundhogs while filming Groundhog Day. Which is poetic, considering the movie is about the same thing happening over and over again.

Pragmatic Play has been stuck on repeat with its Big Bass series 🎣, and the latest offering, Big Bass Halloween 2 slot, is sadly no different from its predecessors.

Does that make it a bad game? Well, no. If you’re onto a winning formula that people like then I guess you’re duty bound to run with it while you can. But after what seems like 342,978 iterations, I’m over it. 🙄

Anyway, here’s the latest version.

Gameplay

Now this is how I like my fishing games to look: spooky and with very little fish-related stuff on the reels. Granted, we’re still underwater, albeit the liquid is a dodgy, jaundiced color, and jellyfish are swimming in it.

The symbols on the reels are a Monster Truck, a Chainsaw, a bloody-eyed Mosquito, a Tackle Box, and, of course, the requisite Fish/Money symbols.

The Wild is the fisherman, but this time, he’s green and insane. Wilds can appear on all the reels during Free Spins and replace all symbols other than Scatters. The Scatter is a fish leaping out of the water.

Stats-wise, there are 10 paylines, a 96.71% RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.

RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate.
, and a very high volatility rate. The max multiplier is 5,000x and the potential payout is a whopping $350,000. The only currency you can’t play with is the yen.

Features

MONEY SYMBOLS:

Fish symbols take a random value with each spin, which could be 2x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 200x, 500x, 1,666x, 2,500x, or 5,000x. These amounts can be won during Free Spins.

FREE SPINS:

Nail 3, 4, or 5 Scatters and be awarded 10, 15, or 20 spins. Oh, and there’s also a random chance of being awarded a third Scatter if you only land 2 in the base game. It can happen in 2 ways:

If the Scatters on the reels can move down a position without leaving the grid, a re-spin will trigger for those reels without a Scatter symbol
A hook can pull a reel up to reveal a Scatter

Free Spins Modifiers:

Before the round starts, up to 5 modifiers will be randomly selected to come into play:

  • More Fish on the reels: Pretty self-explanatory, right?
  • More Fishermen
  • More Dynamite, Hooks, and Chainsaws: I’ll explain what these do below
  • Start from Level 2: The round starts at the second level – I’ll explain in due course
  • +2 Spins: The round starts with 2 extra spins initially, and 2 more spins are added with each re-trigger

When Fishermen symbols are on the grid but no Fish, Fish can appear in random positions at the end of the Free Spins round. This is what the Dynamite modifier brings.

If there are Fish but no Fishermen, the Hook can randomly pluck Fishermen symbols and drag them onto the reels.

As for the Chainsaw, this comes into play when there is a Fisherman on the reels but no Fish. Now, all symbols other than Fishermen are transformed into a random symbol.

During Free Spins, Wild symbols collect the values of all visible Fish symbols. And Wilds themselves are collected with every 4th one re-triggering Free Spins by awarding 10 more spins.

Also, the multiplier for the Fish symbol collection is 2x, 3x, and 10x for the second, third, and fourth levels, respectively.

BUY BONUS:

Pay 100x your bet for immediate entry into the Free Spins round. The number of Scatter symbols that land, and subsequently the number of spins you’ll be awarded, is totally random.

Performance

I didn’t encounter any issues with the game’s performance.

Maximum Win

Bet from $0.20 to $70, and if you combine the latter with the 5,000x max multiplier, you’ll have landed a rod-bending $350,000.

Conclusion

We’ve seen this movie before; it was originally called Big Bass Splash slot. We’ve also seen a Samhain-themed version from the studio, which was called Big Bass Halloween slot.

I’ve asked the question before, but I’ll ask it again: How long is Pragmatic going to flog this dead fish? If you’ve played one version, you’ve pretty much played em all, so that’s all I have to say before the sarcasm vomits out of me.
