Big Bass Vegas Double Down Deluxe Slot Review

I’m not American 🇺🇸, so I’ve seen the penchant for pink flamingos 🦩 in Vegas, but I’ve always been too lazy to find out why. But Big Bass Vegas Double Down Deluxe slot from Pragmatic Play has provided that incentive (you’ll find out why).

Those foul-smelling fowl seem to have a stranglehold on Sin City due to the iconic Flamingo Hotel and Casino, launched in 1946 and developed by mobster Bugsy Siegel.

“Flamingo” was also the nickname of his girlfriend, Virginia Hill – a moniker she earned thanks to her long legs and red hair. 💃🏽

In time, the flamingo became a symbol of the exotic. Of a tropical paradise 🌴 in the desert. So, there you have it. Now you know. Who says gambling doesn’t teach you anything?

Gameplay

Is this the most popular slot series ever? This latest version from Pragmatic brings the total number of Big Bass games on our site to 16 – that’s pretty damn cray cray.

And, as the studio has done before, they’re combining fishing with another theme – Las Vegas and gambling this time. Whoop whoop!

As you might imagine, the reels are filled with pink flamingos, tackle boxes, fishing rods and reels, pink speedboats, and the ubiquitous fish, or Cash symbols.

There are 2 Wilds; one red and one blue, and of course, they’re our Fisherman dude. Wilds replace all symbols other than Scatters or Money symbols.

The games in this series tend to have fantastic potential prize money, and this latest version is no exception: you can win $350,000. However, the volatility rate is very high, and the max multiplier is a minnow, at 5,000x.

There are 10 paylines, and the RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.

RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate.
is 96.50%
. The only currency that’s off the table is the yen.

Features

MONEY SYMBOLS:

If you’ve ever played a Big Bass game, you’ll know that fish = Money symbols. These bad boys can carry multiplier values of 2x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 200x, 500x, or 5,000x.

FREE SPINS:

Nailing 3 or more Scatters initiates this round. Having said that, if you only hit 2 Scatters in the base game, a third could randomly be brought onto the screen in two ways.

The current Scatters could move down a position (as long as they don’t fall off the reels), and in this case, you’ll be awarded a re-spin. Or, a hook could pull up a reel to reveal a third Scatter.

You can score 15, 20, or 25 spins off of 3, 4, or 5 Scatters. Wilds will collect the values from the visible Money symbols.

Blue and red Wild that hit will be collected in meters, with every 4th one awarding 10 more spins. The multiplier for a Money symbol that’s collected by that specific red or blue Wild will increase to 2x for the second level of the meter, 3x for the 3rd, and 10x for the 4th.

Money symbols can randomly appear on screen when there are Fishermen but no Fish at the end of a Free Spin. Or, you’ll see a bazooka animation that transforms non-Fisherman symbols into something else.

Conversely, when Fish/Money symbols are on screen but no Fishermen, a hook can appear and bring a Fisherman symbol onto the reels.

ANTE BET:

Increase your bet by 50% via the Ante bet and you’ll have a higher chance of triggering Free Spins.

BUY BONUS AND SUPER BUY BONUS:

Pay 100x to enter the Free Spins round or 300x for the Super Free Spins round, in which a minimum of three Scatters are guaranteed to land, and only three Wild Fishermen need to be collected in the meters vs. four.

Performance

Things went swimmingly during testing.

Maximum Win

Because the max multiplier is only 5,000x, you’ll need to bet at a sustained $70 to be in line for the $350,000 top prize. The minimum bet is $0.20.

Conclusion

I feel like Pragmatic wrung the juices out of the Big Bass series a while ago, and now all they’re doing is mashing up a few themes to try to stay relevant. Alright, I’ll give it to them that they did include two Wild Fishermen. Whoopty do.

Seriously, I have nothing more to say. It’s the same thing and the same stats all over again. Look, I know that people who fish can sit and stare at the water for hours and come home bleating about how much fun they had, but they might even say that enough is enough.
