Big Catch Review

Have y’all heard of noodling? It’s not some kinky Asian fetish; it’s where people get into rivers and stick their hands or feet into underwater crevices so that catfish can bite on em. 😱🫣

Catfish have sandpaper-like teeth, rather than Tiger fish-like fangs, so you do need gloves 🧤or protective sleeves but it’s not like the fish is gonna chomp a limb off. The thing is, there’s no guarantee that an underwater hole isn’t home to a snapping turtle 🐢 or snake 🐍.

Hell no, that sounds too risky if you ask me, but I do like the idea of landing a sizeable prize. So, given my less-than-manly nature, I think I’ll stick to Big Catch from Evoplay and go fishing for 160 grand instead. 👌

Gameplay

Evoplay’s latest offering is a multiplayer shooting game, in the style of Fishing Kingdom Remastered from Netgame.

Once this game loads, you’ll be asked to choose a bet range that denotes your maximum and minimum bets. Why? Because you’ll be playing with other peeps, so by selecting your bet range, you’ll be competing with players on the same level.

The bet levels are Novice (0.1 to 85), Expert (90 to 1,600), or Legendary (1,700 to 17,000).

Next up, you’ll need to choose a game room. You and three of your friends can play simultaneously in the same space by choosing a specific room. Neat, huh?

Playing alone? No problemo. Select any room or hit the QUICK PLAY button and let the software choose for you. Other players will join and then it’s game on!

You’ll see a bunch of different fish swimming around the place when the action starts. Each fish has a multiplier value and you need to shoot them with either the Underwater Cannon or the Sticky Laser.

Using the Cannon goes like this: click anywhere on screen with your target and that’s the direction the Cannon will fire at. Your shots will hit the nearest fish which might get in the way of the fish you actually wanna shoot, so pick your targets carefully.

If you don’t hit your target immediately, the bullets can bounce off the edge of the screen and the ricochet might just strike a fish regardless.

As for the Sticky laser, this bad boy shoots only at the fish you’ve targeted and won’t stop until the fish has been destroyed, you change your target, or the fish swims out of sight.

The higher your bet level, the cooler your weapons look. Each shot you shoot costs you a bet.

As you might have guessed by now, this game has no paylines. The RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.

RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate.
is 96%
, the volatility rate is variable (depending on your bet level), the max multiplier is 800x, and the top prize is $160,000.

Features

BONUS WEAPONS:

You can win bonus weapons that will increase your kill rate. To do so, you must shoot a Bonus symbol whenever it pops up. These weapons can only be won in the base game but if you score one and go to the Fish Parade feature, the weapon will carry over.

You can win multiple Bonus Weapons and when one gets depleted, the next will take its place.

The types of Bonus Weapons are:

Super Sticky Laser: Sticks to the fish you choose, but also fires at all of the fish in its path for increased wins (50 shots)

Grenade Launcher: Shoots a grenade at any point you’ve selected and will explode on impact, causing more damage and thus, more wins (10 shots)

ICE BOMB:

Another thing you’ll come across are Ice Bombs. Shooting these means the game will freeze for 5 seconds, giving you ample opportunity to shoot the shit out of the fish you’re after.

BONUS GAMES:

There are 2 Bonus Games available and you’ll need to shoot special symbols to initiate these.

Wheel of Fortune:

Spin the Wheel to see which multiplier you land on. The options are 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 30x, 50x, 70x, or 100x – and the best part is you can’t not land on one, so you’re sure to be a winner!

Super Chests:

Select one of the 5 available treasure chests and you could win a multiplier with a value of 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 30x, 50x, 70x, or 100x.

FISH PARADE:

Fish swim along random trajectories in the base game but in the Fish Parade, they swim in formations and create patterns. Which is good for you because then you can figure out the best strategy for nailing as many fish as possible.

BOSS PURPLE LORD:

The Boss Purple Lord is a Kraken-type of cephalopod; to kill one, you must cycle through 3 levels. Nail it the first time, and you’ll win up to 35x; nail it the second time, and you’ll win up to 200x, but kill it outright, and you’ll have scored the 800x max multiplier.

Performance

Testing this game on all my devices and using Safari and Chrome revealed no issues.

Maximum Win

Betting ranges from $0.10 to $200. The max multiplier is 800x, and the top prize is $160,000.

Conclusion

I loved Fishing Kingdom Remastered and I love Big Catch, too. Netgame’s version offers a 1,000x max multiplier and a $2,000 top prize, so clearly, Evoplay’s version is superior in the latter instance. The other version has a 96.12% RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.

RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate.
, so there’s a slight advantage there.

Both games have a Pick and ClickPick & Click games present you with several options, in the form of items you need to select. Choosing an item will reveal what’s beneath – perhaps a cash prize or a Mystery symbol that can transform into something else. This format puts control in your hands. feature, a Wheel of Fortune (although the Netgame version offers Free Shots along with multipliers), the weapons upgrade, and the Kraken dude.

However, Fishing Kingdom Remastered can award 100 to 300 Free Shots, which is helpful coz you pay for the shots you take. And it has more Strange Critters, as they call it, which are similar to the Big Boss/Boss Purple Lord, which award multipliers.

Fishing Kingdom Remastered has a max bet of $2 but remember, you can only win 2 grand.

Whichever version you pick, you’ll surely have a whale of a time.
