Bison Battle Slot Review
In a David Attenborough voice: “The American bison is a large, even-toed ungulate. Weighing as much as a ton, these shaggy wild ox can reach a speed of up to 40 miles per hour, and leap 6 foot vertically in the air.”
OK, enough of that. We’re here for another reason so LET’S GET READY TO RUMBLE!! It’s bison versus bison in Push Gaming’s latest release, Bison Battle slot.
Let’s see who comes up on top – it may even be you!
Gameplay
We find ourselves among the rocky crags of Utah, presumably. The 5-reel grid doesn’t take up a lot of space, which means the soaring cliffs in the background have quite a presence but they kinda overshadow everything else.
It’s all very cartoonish if you look at the symbols and the overall design. But it must be said that the animation when you land a feature (you’ll see a dust cloud thrown up by the rampaging animals) is pretty kick-ass.
On the topic of symbols, the eagle is the highest-paying one, followed by the bear, coyote, and mountain lion.
As the name and the intro animation suggest, this game revolves around bison doing battle and head-butting seven shades of sh*t out of each other. I’ll get into the different types of bison in the features section below.
The controls are pretty straightforward but not always intuitive. Do you see that star above the SPIN button? That’s the Buy feature. Then there’s that grid thing on the far left – that’s actually the paytable and where you’ll find the other settings.
The RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. isn’t bad, at 96.41%, and there’s a substantial 50,000x multiplier and a high volatility to help you get to the €250,000 max win. What is limited though, are the bet limits. These start at €0.10 and only top out at €5.
Features
Wild Bison – These golden symbols substitute for all others except the Red, Blue, and Green Bison.
Scatters – Both the Blue and the Green Bison symbols are Scatters, and can only land on reel 1.
Red Bison – This symbol needs a paragraph on its own to explain! During the base game, you’ll only see these on reels 1 and 5.
When it lands on reel 1, it will award an instant prize in the form of a bet multiplier that ranges from 5x to 2,500x. If another Red Bison do not accompany it on reel 5, the symbol will move to the right 1 reel at a time with each spin and finally disappear.
If you land a Red Bison on reel 5 only, it will come with a multiplier that starts at 1x and ends with 10x. Like before, if there’s no corresponding Red Bison on reel 1, the symbol will now move left… you know the drill.
Bison Clash – Aha! This is what I’ve been waiting for and it takes place when the Red Bison symbol pitches up on both reels 1 and 5, and they’re in the same row.
The bison symbols will now head-butt each other. You’ll be awarded the value of the instant prize (Red Bison reel 1) times the multiplier value (Red Bison reel 5).
Ice Park feature – This happens when a Blue Bison symbol lands on reel 1, and a Red Bison lands in the same row on reel 5. The animals will now clash and you’ll be awarded 3 Free Spins.
At this point, there are 2 possible scenarios.
The first is that Bison coins or ice blocks, which serve as blanks, land in the middle 3 reels. If a coin drops, it will lock the position and reset the spin count.
Alternatively, Bison with multipliers or ice blocks could land on reels 1 and 5. If a Bison drops, the symbol will move across the row and any coin symbol will have its value increased by the multiplier. Oh, and the spin count will also be reset.
Green Valley feature –Land a Green Bison on reel 1, and a Red Bison on the same row in reel 5, and the Green Valley feature kicks off with a clash of Bison heads. You’ll be awarded 8 Free Spins off the bat.
The Wild Bison symbol will become sticky and you’ll only find them on reels 2, 3, and 4. The Red Bison can land on reels 1 and 5, and it carries with it a multiplier that could be anything from 2x to 10x.
Bonus Buy – You can opt to pay for either the Green Valley feature, or the Ice Park feature.
Performance
I did have some performance issues when trying to play the game on Chrome – it simply wouldn’t load. It had worked previously, but then that came to a grinding halt. Safari was blissfully problem-free.
Interestingly, Chrome on my mobile phone worked just fine.
Max Win
Thanks to an immense 50,000x multiplier, you could walk away €250,000 richer if you beat the odds at Bison Battle slot.
Conclusion
While the look and feel of the game are subjective, if you’re a features fanatic, this could get you pretty hot under the collar. It does take a while to let all of the iterations sink in, but luckily I’ve done the hard slog for you!

RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. and a delightful top prize. The high volatility might frustrate you, as there will be long stretches where your wins will be infrequent. But thankfully, there’s the Buy element, so you can fast-forward your way to glory.
I reckon it’s worth having a go at. The game has enough elements to keep you entertained (and then some), along with the potential to make some serious cash.
Casual players, those not chasing the big bucks, or anyone looking for a chilled time with a simple game, you should rather moo-ve along.
