Book of Rest Slot Review
Oh, joy, another Egyptian-themed Book slot. No wait, yes, this is an Egyptian-themed Book slot, but instead of the usual Ancient Egyptian Pharaohs, Ankhs, Anubis' etc. you are now a tourist on holiday in Egypt, hence the word 'rest' in the title. Sit back and relax at the resort or join a tour guide to see the pyramids and the Sphinx. Now, this is a book I can get into; it beats summoning Ra and letting all hell break loose. We've been through enough in 2020.
Gameplay
Book of Rest is a 5x3 reel, 20 payline video slot powered by Evoplaysoftware. Symbols include Suitcases, Dove Towels, Snorkelling Gear, Cocktails, Hookah Pipes, Scorpions, Fish, Camels, and Cats. The only Special Symbol is the Book Wild/Scatter that triggers the Free Spins Feature. There is also a Random Events Feature in the base game and Book Respin Feature. More detail will be given in the Features section.
The game controls at the bottom of the screen are from left to right: the Information Icon expanding to the Paytable, Rules and Games Settings buttons followed by the Balance window, adjustable Bet window, Spin button that is also the Autoplay button when holding it in, Fast Play Mode button, Sound button, Settings button, and Full-Screen Mode button.
Features
The features in Book of Rest include the Book Wild/Scatter that triggers the Free Spins Feature, the Random Events Feature in the base game, and the Book Respin Feature.
The Book Wild/Scatter as a Wild, substitutes for all symbols to form potential winning combinations.
As a Scatter you need to land 3 Book Wild/Scatters to trigger the Free Spins Feature, awarding 10 Free Spins. Typical to the book-style mechanic, a random symbol will be selected for you. This symbol will act as a special symbol in the feature. Every time it lands, it will expand, awarding a payout.
Unique Features
When you land 1 Book Wild/Scatter, you are awarded a respin. If another Book Wild/Scatter lands, another respin is awarded until 3 Book Wild/Scatters land that will then trigger the Free Spins Feature.
During the base game 3 events can trigger at random known as the Random Events Feature, where 1 of the following can occur:
Mixing: spontaneous shuffling of symbols to create winning combinations
Sticky Line: symbols in a winning combination become sticky for a respin.
Miracle Reflection: mirroring of the reels creates winning combinations.
Performance
Book of Rest is a refreshing take on the book-style mechanic slot by altering the predictable Ancient Egypt slot with a different perspective and adding random base game features to the gameplay. The graphics, design, and animation are well done.
