Book of Time Slot Review
I’m generally not one to believe in the paranormal, so it takes a lot to actually freak me out. But I’ve gotta say, the idea of losing time is one thing that really gets me.
So, I love a good spooky podcast. You name it, I’ve probably listened to it.
And recently I was listening to one where the guest was telling a story about the time that he lost 3 hours in a Hawaiian jungle. One minute he was with his family walking around, and the next he was opening his eyes, totally alone, and had no idea how he’d gotten there.
Turns out, by the time he found his family, he’d already been missing for three hours. Now how the hell do you explain that?
Maybe Hacksaw’s new Book of Time slot can shed some light on the situation – or perhaps it’ll just be a good distraction from my looming existential crisis.
Gameplay
Book of Time slot is a 5-reel, 20-payline game from Hacksaw Gaming. Now, I often complain about the lack of creativity from slot providers, so I’m pretty stoked with this one.
I don’t know if anyone else is familiar with the very early Disney cartoons, but this game has a pretty similar feel – right down to the folksy music and sound effects.
The graphics are equally “old-timey,” with the reels designed to look as if they’re made out of painted-on wood.
And while this game may look old, it’s still very much set in the present. That means you can play it on the device of your choice – mobile or desktop. If you’re going with mobile, play it in portrait mode for the best experience.
Book of Time slot has a 96.13% RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. and medium-high volatility rate. The max bet multiplier comes in at a generous 10,000x, which means you can score up to €250,000 with your bet set to the €25 max.
This is a fiat only game, and you can start betting from as little as €0.10.
Features
BOOK SYMBOL
The Book symbol actually doubles as both a Wild and a Scatter. As a Wild, it steps in to substitute for all other symbols, and as the Scatter it’s responsible for triggering the Bonus round.
IT’S A CLASSIC BONUS
Landing 3 or more Scatters triggers this feature. Depending on how many Scatters you land, you’ll receive a different number of Free Spins and special symbols:
3 Scatters: 10 FS + 1 special symbol
4 Scatters: 15 FS + 2 special symbols
5 Scatters: 20 FS + 3 special symbols
The special symbols are randomly chosen at the start of the round. Whenever one appears on at least 3 of the reels, the symbols expand to cover the payline and award a payout.
If you land 3 or more of one special symbol, they take turns expanding.
WHAT TIME IS IT?
This Bonus triggers when you land 3 or more Clock Man Scatters. It’ll award 10 Free Spins, during which 3 clocks are placed about the 3 middle reels.
If a Clock Activator symbol appears anywhere on the 3 middle reels, you’ll land Wild Multiplier Clock symbols that spread from the top to fill all positions containing the triggering symbol.
The Wild multiplier values can range from 2x to 12x, and if more than one Wild is present during a win then the values are added together.
BONUS BUY
There are a few different Bonus Buy options available here:

It's A Classic!: Pay 100x your bet for 10 Free Spins and 1 special symbol.

The Most Classic!: Pay 400x your bet for 20 Free Spins and 3 special symbols.
What time is it?: Pay 200x your bet to land this round.
Performance
I tested Book of Time slot out on my mobile and desktop devices, and found that it offered totally seamless gameplay on both. It’s also good to go on the browser of your choice.
Maximum Win
Set your bet to €25, land the 10,000x multiplier, and you’ll score a whopping €250,000.
Conclusion
Book of Time slot is a great new addition to the Hacksaw Gaming portfolio. It’s quirky, has tons of fantastic features, and the gameplay is just so good.
Honestly, after reviewing countless fruit/Irish/Aztec-themed games, this slot was a breath of fresh air. It really is a lot of fun, and you’d be silly to miss out on it.
And let’s not forget the biggest incentive – that €250,000 max win. If that’s not worth giving this spin, I don’t know what is.
