Crystal Scarabs Slot Review
If ever there was an invention that would see some serious uptake, it was those face smoothing apps like FaceTune 2, AirBrush, and YouCam Perfect. đą
Women have been using this software to successfully lie to men on dating apps, and Iâve been caught out by this subterfuge more than once. đ˛
This one time, I was repeatedly looking past the lady in question â who was standing right in front of me, by the way â because my mind couldnât fathom that it was the same individual I had swiped right on. 𤯠And it never made sense to me.
Like, do they think weâre going to meet them and go âOh, you look nothing like your picture, which means youâve misrepresented yourself, but I actually find that cute and charming. Iâm so glad our potential relationship is starting with dishonesty.â Hello?? đ¤
Or, possibly, they think their other charms will make up for their haggard appearance. Crystal Scarabs slot from Booongo also looks good at first blush, but will it make me fall in love? đ°â¤ď¸
Gameplay
Redgenn has gone with a modern take on the whole Egyptian thing with Crystal Scarabs slot. The character symbols have that smooth face thing going on that you see on social media, but if youâre an ancient Egyptian Pharaoh, youâre entitled to shave off a few years.
The rest of the symbols have these modern designs too, and I must say that I like the effect. The Wild symbol appears on all reels and replaces symbols that arenât Scatters or Bonus symbols. Pyramid Scatters appear on reels 2, 3, and 4 only.
As for the Bonus symbol, thatâs our blue Scarab and it only pays during the Hold & Win game.
I thought that the rectangular shape of the 5x4 grid would translate well to a mobile phone, but the game looks awful in portrait mode. Thatâs squarely the fault of the Jackpots that get moved above the reels and make things look congested. Landscape mode is fine, though.
What isnât fine is the mismatch between the volatility rate (high) and the top payout ($169,920). Ugh. đ¤ At least the max multiplier is more generous, as it comes in at 5,664x.
Crystal Scarabs slot has 15 paylines, an RTPRTP stands for âReturn to Player.â The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a gameâs volatility rate. of 95.60%, and the only currency you wonât be able to play with is the Japanese yen. Gomen nasai.
Features
FREE SPINS:
Landing 3 Scatters gets you 8 Free Spins, with an additional 3 Scatters re-triggering 8 more spins. Sweet!
The round sees more Boost and Bonus symbols landing on the reels than would be the case in the base game. This means the purpose of this round is as a potential gateway to the Hold & Win feature.
BOOST FEATURE:
Landing a Boost symbol (a blue circle with âBoostâ written on it) plus a Bonus Scarab triggers this feature. Now, all of the landed Bonus symbols have their values added up and combined with the current win for a boosted payout. The feature only takes effect for a single spin.
HOLD & WIN FEATURE:
Youâll need 6 or more symbols â comprising of Bonus, Bonus Gold, and/or Boost symbols â on the reels to spark this feature, and youâll be awarded 3 spins to start with. Any newly-landed symbols will reset the spin counter to 3.
As you might expect, youâll play the round on a new screen where only the aforementioned symbols land on the reels.
Youâll notice that the top row of the grid can display modifiers that affect the symbols below them.
- Plus symbols: These reveal a random multiplier thatâs applied to the Bonus symbols on the reel below
- Multipliers: Reveal a random multiplier thatâs also applied to all of the Bonus symbols below it
- Gold symbol: Transforms 1 Bonus symbol below it into a Bonus Gold symbol
PS: This Gold symbol isnât the same as a Gold Booster, mkay?
Jackpots
You came here to make money, didnât you? In that case, let me introduce you to the Mini, Minor, Major, and Grand Jackpots that pay 20x, 50x, 100x, or 5,000x your bet, respectively.
Now hereâs where the Bonus Gold symbols earn their keep; collecting these is what gets you Jackpots. Youâll need 2 Bonus Golds to trigger a Mini Jackpot, 3 to trigger a Minor Jackpot, 4 for a Major Jackpot, and 5 for the Grand Jackpot.
Fill all of the positions on the Hold & Win grid with Bonus and Bonus Gold symbols and youâll double the values of those symbols.
Performance
Crystal Scarabs slot has taken an ancient theme and given it a modern twist. So, it should come as no surprise that the gameplay was smooth and hassle-free, just like the design intimates.
Maximum Win
The betting range is broad enough â ranging from $0.20 to $30 â and it also means you wonât have to break the bank to be in the running for the $169,920 payout. Which is a disappointment, given the high volatility rate. The max multiplier is 5,664x.
Conclusion
That damn volatility vs payout mismatch has ruined this game for me. I enjoyed the gameplay and found that Free Spins and the Hold & Win round would trigger rather frequently, but I couldnât get that mismatch out of my head.
However, you might not be so petty in allowing your expectations to hurt your feelings. If youâre fine with a date night with Crystal Scarabs slot and seeing what comes of it, then this could be the one for you. It is a lot of fun, to be sure, and thereâs always something happening.
