Day of the Dinero Slot Review

Every time my lady and I go to a particular restaurant around the corner, we always order bacon-wrapped jalapeno chilies🌶️ stuffed with cream cheese. They kick you like a scovel mule🥵!

We order them so often that I decided to try to make them myself🧑‍🍳. I got fresh jalapenos, thick-cut smoked bacon, and cream cheese paired with chives. Their heat was far below that of the restaurant⁉️.

And I realized they use pickled jalapenos🫙 to make theirs, which explains why they’re so fiery🔥. They soak in their own chili juice, absorbing each other's heat, like what I imagine happens in a public bath🤢.

There are no pickled chillies in Quickfire’ Day of the Dinero slot, but there are a couple skeleton dogs that could have been preserved like pickles.

Gameplay

Day of the Dinero slot is a medium-volatility, Day of the Dead-inspired game. Instead of your standard 5 reels, every position on the grid is an independent reel, and there are 30 paylines to land matching symbols on, from the leftmost reel to the right.

There are 2 tokens that can land in this game: a dog bone and a flower. The dog bone contributes to the Feature Pots, and the flower randomly increases the game’s Rising Rewards Jackpot. Further details can be found in the corresponding Features sections.

The major symbols are, fittingly, a sombrero, a guitar, a pair of maracas, and a bottle of tequila. The skeleton mariachi character doubles as a Collector symbol, and the Wild appears only in the center position.

It can substitute for any of the pay symbols, except the Cash, Jackpot, and Extra Spins symbols. Whenever it appears, it will collect all the Cash and Jackpot symbols on the reels and award their total.

Cash symbols can appear on all the reels except the center reel in the base game and Free Spins, with award values of 0.4x to 2.4x.

Unfortunately for my crypto bros, this is a fiat currency-only game, with the exception of the Japanese yen and Russian ruble. You can bet as little as $0.20 or as much as $50.

If you do play with the highest bet and have more luck than me, you could win $250,000 by hitting the 5,000x top multiplier. Last but not least, this game has a 96.24% RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.

RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate.

Features

SYMBOL UPGRADE

The Symbol Upgrade feature can be activated in both the base game and Free Spins.

In the base game, you can upgrade non-winning low symbols on the center reel to the Collector symbol and non-winning low symbols on all other reels to Cash or Jackpot symbols.

Blank symbols in Free Spins can become Jackpot symbols, and blank symbols on the bottom right reel can become Extra Spins symbols.

FEATURE POTS

During the base game, up to 2 bone-shaped dog treat tokens can land randomly. If the Collector symbol appears, you collect these tokens. The collected tokens increase the Feature Pots.

The Free Spins Pot, Paprika, increases by 1 for every token collected up to a maximum of 12. After a round of Free Spins, the pot is randomly reset to 5, 6, or 7.

The Free Spins Multiplier Pot, Mutmeg, increases by 0.5x when a token is collected, up to a maximum of 5x, which is applied to all wins during the Free Spins round. After Free Spins, it randomly resets to 1.5x or 2x.

FREE SPINS

Free Spins trigger randomly whenever a token is collected to the Free Spins or Free Spins Multiplier Pots.

During Free Spins, pay symbols are inactive and do not contribute to wins; only the Collector, Cash, Jackpot, and Extra Spins symbols are active and the Collector symbol is locked on the center reel for the duration of Free Spins.

The bottom right reel now has extra spin symbols that can award +1, +2, or +3 additional Free Spins.

RISING REWARDS JACKPOT FEATURE

During the game, a flower token can appear with any random symbol. Collecting it randomly increases one of the Jackpot prizes by 0.2x to 1x your bet amount.

To win 1 of the Jackpot prizes, you must land the corresponding symbol at the same time as a Collector symbol.

Each Jackpot can be awarded multiple times, but once it has been won it will reset to its original value.

  • The Grand Jackpot starts at 500x your bet and can increase to 1,000x your bet.
  • The Mega Jackpot starts at 100x your bet and can increase to 250x your bet.
  • The Major Jackpot starts at 20x your bet and can increase to 80x your bet.
  • The Minor Jackpot starts at 8x your bet and can increase to 40x your bet.
  • The Mini Jackpot starts at 4x your bet and can increase to 30x your bet.

Performance

I didn’t encounter any glitches or issues during my playthrough.

Maximum Win

Bets start at $0.20 and go up to $50. The best possible multiplier is 5,000x, which leads to this game's prize cap of $250,000.

Conclusion

Day of Dinero cobbles together a couple of familiar mechanics from past Quickfire Games titles. We recently saw the Rising Rewards Jackpots in Goal Strike Rising Rewards, but that was a very different game.

I can't help but be cynical whenever a game requires players to spend more time and money to increase the number of Free Spins and Free Spins Multiplier. I think it's just a ploy to keep players spinning in the hopes of a killer Free Spins round.

The Free Spins round also disallows payline wins! You have to rely on Cash and Jackpot symbols appearing among all the other symbols that are now completely worthless.

Winning additional Free Spins is also complicated by the need to collect a special symbol. This is a game of luck and chance, but it seems to create roadblocks to winning.

The game offers 5 jackpots, one more than usual, and they increase incrementally as you play. But good luck winning one of the bigger ones, because their symbols rarely show up.

The game does look pretty good, and the names of the two dogs are rather cute. It would have been beneficial if the developers had applied their inventiveness constructively, rather than creating a game that appears to taunt the player.

Volatility RateSlot games can have low, medium, high, or extremely high volatility rates (or a combination thereof).

The less volatile the game, the more often it should pay out, but the lower the amount, the less the payout, as this is in keeping with the risk you’re taking. Volatility rate should be considered in conjunction with a game’s RTP.
