Dead Headz Slot Review

You’ve heard about the band 🎸🎤 The Grateful Dead, right? They were formed in 1965, and their fans, known as Deadheads, were fervent supporters.

There are tons of stories online of Deadheads supporting each other by raising cash if someone was in need 🙏, or meeting their lifelong partners at a gig, while others followed the band wherever they went, for years, giving up all their worldly possessions.

But if you thought that Dead Headz slot from Hacksaw was gonna be all about love ❤️, tie-dyed shirts, and helping a brother out, you’d be soooo wrong. Dead wrong, in fact.

Gameplay

Zombies were all the rage at one point, and now the brain-addicted undead corpses are back. You’ll see them taking over a 5x5 grid that’s made its home in a graveyard.

The soundtrack isn’t Michael Jackson’s Thriller – it’s more like a disco track, with occasional wailing and gnashing of teeth.

The aesthetics are a bit cartoonish, but that’s OK because the game looks super cool on a mobile phone. Portrait mode allows the grid to take up most of the screen real estate, so it’s an improvement on landscape mode, but the latter is still playable.

There are 19 paylines, the RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.

RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate.
is 96.31%
, and the volatility rate is medium to high. The max multiplier is an astonishing 10,000x, and the max win is $350,000. Betting needs to happen with fiat money only.

Zombies are the high-paying symbols, and when it comes to 5-of-a-kind payouts, the most generous one is a bald, red dude with a beard (25x). The next best is the female zombie (17.50x), followed by the green dude (12.50x) and finally the blue guy (7.50x).

The Wild symbol pays 100x when you land 5 of them. They replace all non-Scatter symbols, and only one Wild can land on each reel per spin.

Features

WILD MULTIPLIERS:

A multiplier is revealed when a Wild lands as part of a winning payline. This multiplier boosts the win that the Wild was a part of, and if more than one multiplier is involved in a win, their values will be additive. Multiplier values can be 2x, 3x, 5x, 8x, 10x, 15x, or 20x.

SHOOT & LOOT WAVES BONUS:

This feature triggers by landing Skull Scatters in the base game. You’ll be awarded 6 spins, and 3, 4, or 5 Scatters also award a 1x, 5x, and 10x multiplier, respectively.

The “camera” follows us as we go beneath the earth to an underground crypt. There, a door opens up, revealing a long passage. On the roof are 3 multipliers (the default is 1x each).

Next, you’ll see zombies at the far end of the passage and a revolver’s cylinder – with a random number of bullets (max of 3) – will appear. The number of bullets you get is equal to the number of shots you can fire at the zombies, who are shuffling towards your ass with each spin.

Blue zombies add a value to the multiplier for the “row” that they’re on. Green zombies reveal a value that is added to all of the multipliers. The multiplier can be 1x, 2x, 3x, 5x, 8x, 10x, 15x, or 20x.

Orange zombies do the same as blue zombies. Red zombies do the same as green zombies, but this time, the multiplier values could be 2x, 3x, 5x, 8x, 10x, 15x, or 20x.

Each row of zombies that you remove completely adds an additional spin.

At the end of the round (when the zombies reach you), the multiplier values are added together and applied to your win amount.

BUY BONUS:

Pay 150x for immediate entry into the Shoot & Loot round.

Performance

Unlike the staccato shuffling of the Undead, Dead Headz slot played smoothly.

Maximum Win

You can score a mind-numbing $350,000 max win in this game. The max multiplier is 10,000x, and betting ranges from $0.10 to $35.

Conclusion

Before we launch into this conclusion, a vital piece of info that we’ll need is the hit frequency; that is 26.90%. This translates to 1 winning spin per 3.72 spins (looked at another way, 73.1% of spins return nada).

It’s clear that Hacksaw was feeling generous when they created this game. The max multiplier and max win are superb, given the volatility rate. I also love how they’ve eschewed (sorry for the big words) the traditional Free Spins format, and have come up with this shooting gallery one.

However, like with all games, there are some drawbacks. Having 19 paylines on a 5x5 grid is severely restrictive. The hit rate is suppressed by this limitation.

Also limiting is the restriction on how many Wilds can land per reel (only 1); this means no stacking. And additive multipliers are not as good as multiplicative ones, and 5-of-a-kind payouts suck the hind teat.

The Buy Bonus is 50% more expensive than almost any other in the market, and you only get 6 spins for your money, which is hectic.

Personally, I wouldn’t use it coz having to make up 150x plus profit on a round with 6 spins is not going to be easy. If I do some quick and dirty math, it seems that trying to trigger the bonus feature organically is the right way to go.
