Dia del Mariachi Megaways Slot Review
The cockroach
The cockroach
Can no longer walk
Because she doesn’t have, because she lacks the two hind legs to walk
I just need to know one thing. Of all the beautiful songs about machismo, love, death, and betrayal that Mariachi bands have sung over time, how did this disturbing one become the most famous?
I should never have researched La Cucaracha coz now I have this image of a forlorn insect dragging itself across the floor, with a baleful look in its eyes, crying: “Why you do this to me?”
Hopefully, the action on Dia del Mariachi Megaways slot from Thunderkick will distract me from these wretched thoughts! ¡Ai caramba!
Gameplay
The scene that greets us in Dia del Mariachi Megaways slot is super colorful and, best of all, cockroach free. The 6-reel grid has an extra reel that runs horizontally across the top (more on that below), with some Jackpots off to the left-hand side.
When it comes to symbol payouts, the guitar is the highest, followed by the violin, trumpet, and maracas.
As you’d expect from a Megaways slot, this one boasts up to 117,649 ways to win, and it also comes with a 96.23% RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate., a substantial €240,000, and unsurprisingly the volatility is high.
What might bring some players low is the fact that this slot only accepts fiat. ¡Maldita sea!
Features
Reels 1 and 6 can host up to 7 symbols (the reels don’t expand; you just get some extra small symbols crammed in). Reels 2, 3, 4, and 5 can host 6 (thanks to that extra horizontal reel).
ROLLING REELS:
Also known as a cascading feature on other games, every win triggers this feature which sees winning symbols removed so that others can take their place – and that means additional wins.
Rolling Reels are available in both the base game as well as during Free Spins.
WILDS:
Naturally, these replace all other symbols except the Scatter and Special symbols. Wilds only land on the extra reel but can appear on the main reels during Sombrero Spins.
SPECIAL SYMBOLS:
You’ll see some Special symbols on the extra reel:
Piñata: Awards cash prizes worth 2x, 3x, 5x, or 10x your bet
Firecracker: Turns itself, and the entire reel below it, Wild (this doesn’t apply to Scatters)
Rocket: Turns itself Wild and replaces a max of 3 random positions with Wilds
Wheel: This symbol triggers 1 spin of a bonus wheel.
Let me expand a bit more on the last one. If the Bonus Wheel stops on one of the below, you’ll be awarded the respective prize right away:
Mega Jackpot: 10,000x your bet
Major Jackpot: 500x your bet
Minor Jackpot: 50x your bet
Mini Jackpot: 15x your bet
SOMBRERO SPINS:
If Special symbols hit during the base game, that doesn’t mean you’ll be awarded their prize. A Sombrero Spin needs to happen first, and that action takes place randomly.
FREE SPINS:
You’ll need to land at least 4 gold bar Scatters to trigger this feature, and you’ll get 10 Free Spins for your effort.
Each additional Scatter that you manage to land brings with it 2 extra Free Spins. However, if you land 4 extra Scatters, then you’ll be awarded 10 Free Spins.
Sombrero Spins are always active during Free Spins, meaning each spin could set off a Special symbol.
BUY FEATURE:
You can jump right into the Free Spins round – for 80x your stake.
Performance
There was certainly cause for celebration after the hundreds of rounds that Dia del Mariachi Megaways slot had to gobble up during my testing. I didn’t experience a single buffer, glitch, or error on any of my devices (or while using Safari or Chrome).
Maximum Win
You can start betting at just €0.20 but €20 is where you wanna be. If you go all in, then the 12,000x multiplier will see you scoop up the €240,000 max win.
Conclusion
I haven’t seen too many Mariachi/Mexican-themed Megaways slots, so this was a bit of a treat. Not content with offering the usual Free Spins and Wilds on top of Jackpots, Thunderkick’s addition of Special symbols is a nice touch.
In reality, it will take some doing to land the Bonus Wheel, but that’s to be expected as it is the key to the Jackpot prizes. All-in-all, this is a fun game to play, and it has the potential to make it rain with dinero.
