Diamond Cats Slot Review

Cats are certainly no strangers to the online casino domain, as developers certainly have a soft spot for our feline friends. The latest cat-focused creation to have players talking comes straight from the team at Amatic, in the form of Diamond Cats. Featuring a fair few jewel-encrusted collars, it’s safe to say that this particular game doesn’t lack for sparkle.

Joining the wealth of other cat-themed real money online slots titles, including the already popular Cats and Cash, Cats Royal, and 100 Cats, Amatic needs Diamond Cats to be the “cat’s meow” as it were. So, with its glitter and sparkle, is this feline-flavor slots game purr-fect? Sadly, it doesn’t even get close if you ask us!

Gameplay

Regardless of its age or theme, every Amatic game carries the same core gameplay values. Simple and easy to grasp is the general premise, with Diamond Cats fitting this to a tee. The incredibly simplistic control panel at the bottom of the screen presents the hub of the game, with there being just six buttons at hand. You won’t need to be a rocket scientist to navigate Diamond Cats, with bets ranging between €20 and €100 to cover all 20 paylines. What’s surprising is that for all of this game’s weird glitz and glamor, it’s easily one of the more affordable Amatic titles we’ve come across.

Amatic games are usually high variance and high paying, but only part of that equation is true in Diamond Cats. The paytable had us pondering where all the cash wins had got to, as the top base game prize is just €5,000. It’s safe to say that moving through all the cat symbols in this game – all the way up to the princess – you probably won’t be left feeling like the cat that got the cream.

Features

If a game doesn’t have a great looking paytable, it needs a strong set of bonus features to give it a boost. Amatic clearly didn’t get the memo on this, as Diamond Cats struggles to deliver any kind of replay value. The basics are catered for through the wilds, scatters, and gamble feature, but the well (or should we say bowl) runs dry after this. We’re not sure what Amatic were thinking here, as they surely must have known that a handful of free spins and a so-so gamble feature wouldn’t have been enough to hook players. Spelling it out, if you want a game that has legitimate replay value, look anywhere but at Diamond Cats.

Performance

Diamond Cats is able to redeem itself slightly in the looks department, as it certainly isn’t as woeful as some other Amatic games. While the graphics are still pretty flat, the theme is actually quite amusing, as some of the cats on screen will produce a laugh or two. Plus, where they’ve been decked out in jewels and are accompanied by a pretty out of place princess, it only lends itself to the randomness of the game.

This game is also presented pretty well, there are a few animations included when winning combinations pop up, with a soundtrack also included. Again, it’s anything but genre defining, but it’s a nice addition to Diamond Cats nonetheless.

Conclusion

Taking an objective look at Diamond Cats, it isn’t a particularly good game quite frankly. There is so much here that drags the game down, including a half-baked jackpot and generic bonus features. When these features are lacking, a game is more or less doomed from the outset. The glamor meets goofy theme is okay, but that doesn’t do anywhere near enough to rescue Diamond Cats. All in all, Diamond Cats is far from purr-fect and probably represents one to avoid.
