Diamond Match Slot Review
You've heard "A Diamond Is Forever" a thousand times, and you probably figured some slick ad man in a corner office wrote it. It was Frances Gerety, a copywriter at N.W. Ayer, scribbling late one night đ in 1947 with a De Beers pitch due the next morning.
She wasn't convinced it was any good. Advertising Age later named it the slogan of the century, and engagement rings đ became something every American groom was expected to buy. Gerety herself never married, which is pretty ironic.
I've written hundreds of reviews, and not one line of mine has been heralded as review or slogan of the year. đ˘ Diamond Match slot from Playtech is all about those shiny stones, so maybe Iâll do better with this game than my chosen career pathâŚ

Gameplay
Award-winning design clearly wasnât at the top of the To Do list for this slot. Which is OK, as long as the money-making potential is there. But is it?
Youâll notice that there are two boards. Each one is a 5x4 grid - the bottom is the main grid and carries 40 paylines, the RTPRTP stands for âReturn to Player.â The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a gameâs volatility rate. is 95.41%, volatility is high, and the max multiplier is 1,185.6x. The max win is $237,120, with bets running from $0.10 to $200.
Youâll need to play with fiat currency but none of them are blocked, so thatâs at least something to celebrate.
The top board doesn't pay on lines at all. Each position spins on its own, some come up blank, and whatever does land there is waiting to be collected by the bottom grid.
That collect, called Diamond Match, is live on every base-game spin, and it's the whole reason the game exists.
Coming back to the paytable, though. The Single Bar, Double Bar and Triple Bar symbols pay 0.1x to 1x for 3 to 5 of a kind. The Green 7, Blue 7 and Red 7 pay 0.2x to 2x.
The Bell pays 0.3x to 2.5x, and the Horseshoe pays 0.4x to 3x. The Star tops the bunch at 0.5x to 5x, which means a Star out-earns all of the 7s. Somebody at Playtech never sat at a Vegas machine #JustSaying.
The Wild lands on reels 2 to 5 of the bottom grid only, and it subs for everything except the Diamond Match symbol. It has no payout of its own.
The Diamond Match symbol lands anywhere on the bottom grid and can show up stacked. It pays nothing on the lines, coz its job is collecting.
The top board has 3 prize symbols. The Cash Prize is worth 0.5x, 1x, 1.5x, 2x, 3x, 5x, 10x or 15x.
The Free Games symbol carries a +3, +4, +5, +7 or +10, though +3 and +4 only appear during Free Spins. The Diamond symbol hands out a jackpot.
All prize symbols reset when you start a new spin, so nothing carries over.
The jackpots are fixed, not progressive: Grand pays 500x, Major 100x, Minor 25x and Mini 10x, and any of them can be won more than once. When a Diamond symbol is collected, the tier is picked at random.
Some of the jackpots come with multipliers, too. Mini can get 2x, 3x or 5x, Minor and Major get 2x or 3x, and Grand never gets one.
Features
DIAMOND MATCH:
The feature triggers when you land a Diamond Match symbol anywhere on the bottom grid and a prize symbol sits in the identical spot on the top board on the same spin.
The match goes cell by cell. A Diamond Match symbol collects every prize and arrow symbol in its matching top-board cell, whether that's a Cash Prize, a Free Games tile, or a Diamond for one of the jackpots with up to a 5x multiplier.
A stacked Diamond Match symbol covers several cells at once, so it can scoop several prizes off the top board all at once.
MEGA MATCH:
Mega Match can trigger at random on any spin, both in the base game and during Free Spins.
When it hits, the whole top board fills with prize symbols. Then the bottom reels stop one by one, and you collect whatever sits above any Diamond Match symbols that landed. You still need the collectors underneath it.

FREE SPINS:
Free Spins trigger when 1 or more Diamond Match symbols on the bottom grid match a Free Games prize symbol on the top board.
Each matched tile awards the number printed on it, and when 2 or more match, the numbers are added together. In the base game the tiles are +5, +7 or +10, so you start with at least 5.
Once you're in, things change. Every Diamond Match symbol that lands sticks and moves 1 position to the left on every spin until it leaves the reels.
Green and red arrows can also land on the top board during the round. The Green Arrow only works if a Diamond Match symbol collects it, and then it moves that Diamond Match all the way to reel 5 on the next spin.
The Red Arrow doesn't need collecting. As soon as it lands anywhere on the top board, every Diamond Match symbol on that reel jumps to reel 5. That's the good one, since it buys a collector a whole fresh walk across the board.
Cash Prizes, Diamonds and Free Games tiles (now including +3 and +4) can all still be collected, and Mega Match can still fire at random.
Retriggers work the same way as the trigger, by matching a Diamond Match symbol with a Free Games tile, and you can retrigger indefinitely. When it's all over, press âś on the summary screen to get back to the main game.
Performance
Youâre now familiar with my failure as a copywriter, but I actually scored quite nicely while testing this game, which coincidentally ran smoothly across my various devices.
Maximum Win
Put the max multiplier of 1,185.6x on the $200 top bet and you get a max win of $237,120. The minimum bet is $0.10.
Conclusion
The game's money lives on the top board, fo sho. The paytable won't do much for you, since 5 Stars pay 5x and everything else pays 3x or less, so the Diamond Match symbol is doing all the real work.
To win the mega moolah, you need jackpots stacking up in one collection.
Every tier at its best multiplier adds up to 500x + 300x + 75x + 50x = 925x, which means Mega Match filling the board while stacked Diamond Match symbols cover the right cells, ideally during Free Spins.
High volatility usually comes with something akin to 5,000x at the top. Here, you're taking hectic swings for a 1,185.6x prize, which is a bunch of hogwash.
