Donkey Dollars Slot Review

For today’s lesson, I’m going to teach you some Afrikaans. (It’s one of the 11 official languages in South Africa 🇿🇦, in case you’re confused.)

Interesting Afrikaans words include jagluiperd, which is a cheetah 🐆, but the word translates to “hunting lazy horse.” If you’re sick of something, you have a “full throat” (ek is keel vol).

The Afrikaans for “thank you” is baie dankie, which is pronounced phonetically as “buy a donkey,” and those four-legged fly resorts 🫏 are the subject of today’s game: Donkey Dollars slot from Quickfire.

Gameplay

You’ll want to kiss the MUTE button as the assortment of sounds emanating from Donkey Dollars slot will drive you nuts. OK, maybe if you grew up on a farm somewhere you’d be like “What’s the problem,” but for us city folk, it’s a noise that gets my goat (see what I did there?).

To the left of the 5x4 grid is the Buy Bonus and Bonus Wheel – more on these later – and above the reels are the various Jackpots. The Mini pays 5x, the Minor pays 10x, the Major pays 50x, the Mega pays 200x, and the Grand pays 1,000x.

What messes with my OCD is that the studio hasn’t arranged these in ascending or descending order. But that has to do with the Jackpot feature and Tokens, which I’ll get into below.

There are a couple of Wilds in this game and they’re all symbolized by the burro.

The Falling Wild falls from the trees onto the reels. God knows what the donkey was doing in the trees to begin with, but I’m slowly realizing that a lot of this game has very little to do with common sense.

A Sticky Wild also falls out of the tree, but during Free Spins, while a regular Wild appears in both the base game and Free Spins round, where 3 of them 2x, 4 of them award 4x, and 5 of them award 8x.

All of the Wilds replace regular symbols.

You won’t be able to play with the yen or ruble, but other forms of fiat currency are good to go. The game has 20 paylines, a 96.14% RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.

RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate.
, and a medium volatility rate. However, you can still win $200,000 off the back of a 5,000x max multiplier.

Features

JACKPOTS:

We need to circle back to the Jackpots for a bit because you need to know about the Jackpot Token, which is a carrot.

If one of these symbols lands on a reel, the Jackpot on that reel will increase by a specific amount (making these Local Progressive JackpotsThese Jackpots will increase in value over time if they’re not won. They’re funded by a small percentage of the player’s bets.

The Jackpot could be linked to a single game on a single casino, or it could apply across a network of games for a specific casino or game studio, or across multiple casinos.
):

  • Landing a single Jackpot Token increases its Jackpot by 0.2x
  • Land a 2-carrot Token to increase its Jackpot by 1x
  • Land a 3-carrot Token to increase its Jackpot by 2x

You can land Jackpot Tokens in the base game and during Free Spins. And I guess fewer Tokens land on the middle reel, which is why they’ve designated that as the home of the Grand Jackpot.

JACKPOT WHEEL:

Landing 1 or more Jackpot Tokens – in the base game and Free Spins – can randomly award you the chance to play on the Jackpot Wheel, where you’re guaranteed to win one of the Jackpots.

Look out for the donkey in front of the Wheel – he’ll get increasingly rotund as he chomps down on the Tokens. That’s a sign that things can get freaky soon.

FREE SPINS:

Apples randomly land in placeholders above the reels that spell the word B-O-N-U-S, at which point the Free Spins round will trigger. Fill the placeholders partially, and the Apples will fall onto the grid, transforming into Wilds.

You’ll start the feature with 10 spins and before the fun starts, you’ll get to choose if you want your Wilds to be of the Falling or Sticky variety.

Well, that’s what the copy says on the info page, but the truth is that you can still have instances where the other type of Wild lands.

So why wouldn’t you just opt for the Sticky Wilds? Surely these hold more promise of scoring a win? You’d think, but the Falling Wilds can end up creating fully stacked Wild Reels, so it’s not that straightforward.

BUY BONUS:

Pay only 50x to enter the Free Spins round. Bargain! And you still get to choose the flavor of Wild, as if you triggered the feature organically.

Performance

Donkey Dollars slot played perfectly on all my devices and browsers.

Maximum Win

Betting starts at $0.20 and ends at $40. The max multiplier is 5,000x, and the top prize is $200,000 – damn fine for a game with medium volatility.

Conclusion

The best thing about this game is the cheap Buy Bonus option. That 50x allows you to get 10 spins and to choose the type of Wild you wanna see, and Free Spins typically see more Tokens falling, which in turn can trigger the Jackpot Wheel.

The base game doesn’t offer a lot of ways to make money.

Another great option from the Quickfire stable is Double Beef Up The Bonus slot. Its volatility rate, max multiplier, and top prize are the same as our current game.

Features-wise, the Beefy game offers Free Spins (you only get 3 spins, though), an Upgrade Trail, a Hold and WinThis feature plays out on a new screen. Typically, you get 3 re-spins (which could be re-triggered), and the triggering symbols usually stick to the position on which they land. Your objective is to land as many symbols as possible on the grid (you could land blank tiles, too). round, and you can win some Jackpots.
