What's with the appeal of dragons?
For centuries they've symbolized an ultimate menace. (Hence the nickname being applied to some mother-in-laws although I think honestly – that's a disservice to dragons...)
Defeating a dragon is one of the most revered achievements in tales throughout history. Any knight who brought down one of these fearsome beasts would have glory and adoring fans.
I would, of course, have run for the hills, leaving screaming victims behind me. Perhaps I'd even use one as a human shield if the dragon got too close. What can I say? I've got survival instincts…
Anyway, all this talk is because of the next video slot I need to review – Dragon's Kingdom. Its a beautiful creation by Amatic that's designed to work on your P.C, mobile device or tablet.
There's a sense of excitement and bravery that comes along with Dragon's Kingdom, and even I felt a bit of it coursing through my veins. I felt a little bit more ready to face my own challenges – maybe at Sunday lunch, I would now stand up to my mother-in-law!
Gameplay
Dragon's Kingdom is a 5 reel and 20 payline slot with medium volatility. Apart from the 10-Ace icons, most symbols in the game stem from medieval times: a princess, chalice, knight, rose, dragon and castle. The dragon is the wild that's able to replace all symbols except the bonus symbol, which is the castle.
Controls are standard Amatic ones and while not blending in with the design, they do function very well. Up top you can find Info (including Paytable). Below the reels are Balance, Total Win and Bet Amount.
Further down you'll find Autostart, Gamble, Lines, Bet and Start.
Take your time slaying this dragon, because there's no Turbo Spin.
Features
If the Gamble option is selected, after each winning spin in regular play, you get a chance to wager half or your entire profits on a 2X bet on card color, or 4X bet on color and suit.
3 Bonus symbols on reels 2-4 activate 7 Free Spins, at the beginning of which a Multi-stacked symbol is randomly allocated. This symbol will replace the princess, knight, chalice and flower symbols, making some big wins possible!
Performance
A bugbear of mine for a while has been that Amatic sound effects are the same throughout their game selection. Mercifully, the ones in Dragon's Kingdom are slightly different, which was a pleasant surprise.(I see the joy in small things!)
The music blends into the theme nicely while the classically styled graphics are impressive.
On all 3 devices tested, Dragon's Kingdom presented no issues or problems, apart from a small complaint of the initial screen taking a while to load. (But I am the impatient type)
Conclusion
In a slot that's not laden with features, it's crucial that the present ones are exceptional. The Free Spins in Dragon's Kingdom are just that and provide an incredible opportunity to walk away with a massive win.
