Dragon's Pearl Slot Review
I know what you're thinking - “How many times are games developers going use Chinese heritage as a game theme. Isn't that well dry?” Well, friends, I'm here to tell you that some wells are apparently ever abundant! Games developers have announced they will be beating that dead horse for years to come. (Calm down P.E.T.A Members, it's just an analogy) Sometimes I groan when I see Hollywood re-visit tried and tested characters in some vaguely different form. Yet, invariably I find myself in line at the box office, succumbing to the guilty pleasures of yet another Spiderman reboot. I feel sorta like that with this slot, reluctant to admit that I'm kinda keen to try it. Dragons Pearl is a video slot created by Amatic and designed to work on PC, mobile devices and tablets. The main page loaded and an instant craving for spring rolls hit me. I had alternate feelings of either being in ancient China or the dubious Chinese restaurant around the corner. I had to play quickly, the all you can eat special was ending in 2 hours!
Dragons Pearl is a 5 reel 50 payline slot. So, bearing that in mind, if you are a slow, steady accumulator of profits, this slot is right down your alley. There are, however, more aggressive line options when setting your bet if the urge so grabs you.
The symbols are a beautiful princess, evil kung fu master and traditional depictions of many animals. There is also a dragon wild which can substitute for everything except the bonus symbol, which is a pearl. Tha Amatic controls are well thought out with Total Coins and Bet Amount displays above the following: Autostart, Exit, Gamble, Lines, Bet and Start. At the top is an Info button with Rules and Paytable charts. The Autostart has no settings whatsoever, simply press to start and press to stop. The benefit of this is that it doesn't require much thought, the drawback is that it doesn't enable any planning.
3 or more bonus symbols wins you 5 Free Spins which can be retriggered. During these spins, any single bonus symbol garners the player an extra Free Spin. There's also a chance to “Gamble” after each winning spin. Here you can choose to either risk your entire profit or half. Then you need to decide if you want to try to double your money by selecting the card color or quadruple it by selecting color and suit.
Dragons Pearl has stacked wilds which can cover an entire reel and score you some great wins!
The graphics are pretty evocative, and so is the music. I won't say either is particularly memorable, but they do the job nicely. The sound effects are the same across all Amatic slots so they will be familiar to most users. Performance wise there were no hiccups on the platforms I tested.
Much like I hated to admit I enjoyed Spiderman: Homecoming, it pains me to confess that this game provided me with a few hours of great fun. Scoring an extra Free Spin with a single bonus symbol was a feature in particular that I enjoyed. I've missed my all you can eat special, but I can't say that I regret it – Dragon's Pearl was great company.
