Eldritch Dungeon

The classic dungeon crawler is one of the most popular game genres of all time 🕹️, and it still holds its own against more modern themes. I remember playing Diablo 2 for the first time in 1998, and it quickly became my obsession 🖥️🔥.

More than 25 years later, I’m still into Diablo, but now I rage quit at a reasonable hour instead of playing until 4 in the morning, because I’m an “adult” now 😅⏰.

Eldritch Dungeon slot by Relax looks and feels like a classic top-down dungeon crawler 🏰🗡️, but instead of leveling up your character, it lets you level up your bank account 💰📈.

Gameplay

This is one cool-looking game. The 8x8-reel grid looks like a Diablo chessboard, and all the symbols look like they belong in a D&D game. The soundtrack is fitting too.

In this game, you can pick one of three warriors to play with. Each Hero has unique stats that will benefit you differently throughout your playthrough.

Before a new spin, you can choose which companion to activate by pressing the companion panel. At the start, only the Arcanist is available, but you’ll unlock the Ranger and Mauler as you play.

Your hero moves around on the grid during spins, and your goal is to cross all the reels and find the door that leads to the bonus games.

The hero you choose to play with will always be on the grid, walking around and fighting enemies during wins.

There are two types of Wild Symbols that can substitute for any of these gemstones. You can also collect 4 power relics and one spectral effect by defeating enemies..

The higher-paying symbols are purple, blue, green, and orange gemstones. These gemstones can pay between 50X and 1,000X your bet if you land at least 15 of them. This game makes use of cascading reels.

When there are no more wins, the Companion Strike might activate. Each companion has a unique skill:

  • Arcanist: Changes 11 to 16 symbols into the same random symbol and clears symbols above and below.
  • Ranger: Changes one line of 8 symbols into the same random symbol and clears symbols above and below.
  • Mauler: Changes two 2x2 areas of symbols into the same random symbol and removes all surrounding symbols.

On each spin, 4 symbol positions may hide an enemy. When the Wild Warrior has a clear path to the enemy, a battle occurs.

Defeating an enemy rewards you with one of four Power Relics and one Spectral Effect. Spectral Effects are queued up and activated when there are no more wins. The four enemies are:

  • Nightwing: Transforms 10 symbols into the same random symbol.
  • Elderwing: Transforms 19 symbols into the same random symbol.
  • Nightfang: Adds 4 wilds at random positions.
  • Elderfang: Adds 10 wilds at random positions.

The Dungeon Battle starts when the Wild Warrior reaches the exit in the Base Game. During the first 8 battles, the warrior and companion face one of 3 enemy types, each with different difficulty levels.

Defeating enemies of levels 1, 2, or 3 earns you 2, 4, or 6 Spectral Keys, respectively. Power Relics help you win battles, and any uncollected ones might be awarded after a win.

In the 9th battle, the warrior faces The Old One alone. Defeating The Old One unlocks all grid positions in the Treasure Hall Spins, places a 4x4 coin in the center, and adds a 2x multiplier to the largest coin after evaluation.

The Dungeon Battle ends after losing 3 battles or defeating The Old One.

This game has an RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.

Features:

HOLD & WIN:

Treasure Hall Spins (Hold & Win) begin right after the Dungeon Battle on an 8x8 grid with 6 positions unlocked in the center. Each Spectral Key collected during the Dungeon Battle unlocks an additional position. Landing a Spectral Key symbol can unlock 2, 3, or 6 more positions.

You start with 3 spins, and each time a coin or Spectral Key symbol lands, your spin count resets. Coins always merge into the largest possible square. When you run out of spins, each coin pays out according to the pay table, and the feature ends.

The smallest coins (1x1) can be worth between 0.5x and 2x your bet, while the largest coin (8x8) can be worth between 1,000x and 10,000x your bet. The maximum win for this feature is 20,000x your bet.

Conclusion

Relax Gaming tends to produce some of the coolest slot games around, but it really hit it out of the park with this game. I’ve never seen anything like it.

From the gorgeous design, to the epic, pc-game-like gameplay, this slot game has it all.

I should start off by saying that this game is rather complex (in a good way) and rookie players might get lost in its myriad of dungeons, but after a while, anyone with basic gaming knowledge should start to really enjoy it.

The game feels like an endless treasure trove. Between the Cascading symbols and Wild Warriors smashing through enemies to create fresh winning chances, there's constant action on the screen.

And the bonuses? The Dungeon Battle and Treasure Hall Spins add extra excitement, especially when a single coin can be worth up to 10,000X your bet!

I’d suggest taking a few healing potions and your favorite one-handed weapon along for this ride!

PaylinesPaylines are preset lines that run across the reels, and when you land matching symbols on them, that will result in a payout. The more paylines, the more ways you can win, but also the higher your bet per spin.: Cluster pays
Volatility RateSlot games can have low, medium, high, or extremely high volatility rates (or a combination thereof).

The less volatile the game, the more often it should pay out, but the lower the amount, the less the payout, as this is in keeping with the risk you’re taking. Volatility rate should be considered in conjunction with a game’s RTP.
