Empress Charm Slot Review
I always appreciate it when I get a break from reviewing (what feels like) the endless stream of classic fruit slots – even if the break comes in the form of some vaguely Oriental theme.
I’m never totally sure where providers are going in this kind of situation. But, for once, Amusnet Games (formerly EGT) seems to have gotten things right with its new Empress Charm slot.
It at least seems semi-historically accurate, with all of the main inspo drawing from traditional Chinese culture. Whether that reflects in the gameplay remains to be seen.
Gameplay
Empress Charm slot is a 5-reel, 25-payline game from Amusnet. Initially, I quite liked the look of this game. Like all Amusnet slots it has a slightly retro vibe due to the 2D graphics, but the colors are bright and the symbols stand out against the grid.
But things fall a little flat when we delve deeper. The RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. sits at 96.27%, the game has a medium-high volatility rate, and the max multiplier comes in at just 800x your bet.
Bet limits range from €0.25 to €50, which means you can win a maximum of €40,000. This is also a fiat only game, so crypto players and those using Australian dollars, Japanese yen, and Polish zloty, will have to sit it out.
Empress Charm slot is available on mobile and desktop devices, and looks solid on both. The game is definitely better suited to portrait mode if you choose to go the mobile route, so keep that in mind.
Features
WILD
The Golden Dragon acts as both the Wild and the Scatter, substituting in wins and also triggering Free Spins.
FREE SPINS
Landing 3 or more Scatters will trigger 15 Free Spins, during which the Wild will be transformed into a coin symbol.
If the round ends with 13 to 20 coins on the reels, you’ll win 3x the amount. If there are 15 to 25 coins, you get an extra 15 Free Spins, and if there are 26 or more coins, then you’ll win 800x their value.
Performance
I put Empress Charm slot through hundreds of spins on my mobile and desktop devices, and it worked really well on both. No issues over here, and Chrome and Safari also showed equally good gameplay.
Maximum Win
Set your bet to the max of €50 and land the 800x multiplier to score the top payout of €40,000.
Conclusion
Empress Charm slot was a welcome respite from the endless fruit games, but it’s hardly groundbreaking. Amusnet has, as per usual, kept things simple with their latest slot – and it’s hard not to want a little more action.
This may be a better option for newbs as opposed to high rollers, as the win potential is also limited. Overall, I think it’s a good starter slot – but more could have been done to amp up the excitement.
