Fiona’s Christmas Fortune Slot Review
I’m not a fan of redheads because, you know, no souls and all that. Kidding; I’m just kidding. Redheads are supposed to be all fiery and passionate, so I guess the best way to cool them down would be to take them to the North Pole.
And how did I make that particular mental leap? I was inspired by Santa’s sexy ginger helper. She’s the main attraction (at least she was for me) in Quickfire’s latest offering: Fiona’s Christmas Fortune slot.
Now there’s a Scarlett I’d happily kiss under the mistletoe. Or anywhere else, for that matter.
Gameplay
’Tis the season for sexy redheads, it seems – and suddenly I don’t want to gouge my eyes out with a spoon this Christmas. All hail Fiona and her fur-clad twins!
You’ll find her on a traditional 5x3-reel grid, but with a little something extra: there’s a Bonus Wheel bulging out to the left of the grid (bet Fiona has that effect on many things). There are also Jackpots shown above the reels.
The mobile view is not bad at all, I must admit. In portrait mode, the Bonus Wheel pops out the top of the grid, and the controls are nicely spaced at the bottom of the screen. The grid is big enough to make out all the symbols easily.
In landscape mode, the game looks the same as on a laptop so take your pick and play as you prefer.
Beneath Fiona’s smoldering veneer are some decent stats: 95.99% RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate., 25 paylines, a medium volatility rate, and an impressive €200,000 max win.
The following might be bad news, but it’ll only disappoint you folks who play with crypto – this game doesn’t accept that form of currency, so please play with that old-school fiat, if you wouldn’t mind.
Fiona is our Wild and you’ll see her on reels 2 to 5. She replaces all symbols other than the Free Spins one, the Prize symbols (the different colored baubles), the Bonus symbol, and the Trigger symbol (the bag of goodies).
Features
EXPRESS COLLECT:
The Christmas baubles (the Prize symbols) come with values ranging from 1x to 200x your bet and these will only be collected when you land them on reels 1 to 4 while simultaneously landing a Trigger symbol on reel 5.
You can also scoop up a Mini (20x your bet) or Major (400x) Jackpot during this feature.
WHEEL BONUS:
For this one, which happens during the base game, you’ll need a Wheel Bonus symbol on reel 1 at the same time as a Trigger symbol on reel 5.
The Wheel will now take pride of place next to the voluptuous vixen that is Fiona. You’ll see different segments on the Wheel displaying the Link&Win prize, various multipliers (2x, 5x, and 10x), and three Jackpots – Mini (20x your bet), Major (400x), and Mega (5,000x).
Multipliers are applied to your base game win – the one that triggered the feature – and to any Mini and Major Jackpots.
LINK&WIN:
This feature awards cash prizes, and it’s triggered in the Wheel Bonus as I described earlier. The prizes are once again credit values or the Mini or Major Jackpot (same values for both as above).
You’ll start with 3 spins on a new screen with 15 available spots, and the Wheel Bonus symbol, the Trigger, and the Link&Win symbols will become sticky (in other words, they stay put, while the rest of the positions spin).
Landing additional Link&Win symbols reset the spin counter and they’ll also become sticky. The feature ends when no more spins are left or when 15 Link&Win symbols have populated the positions on the reels.
And what happens if those fabled 15 Link&Win symbols come in, you ask? You’ll score the Mega Jackpot (5,000x your bet).
FREE SPINS:
Landing 3 Free Spins Scatters on reels 2, 3, and 4 get you into the Free Spins round (you’ll get 10 spins for your trouble). The values of the Express Collect prizes are now more generous and Free Spins can even be re-triggered by landing additional Scatters.
Performance
Playing Fiona’s Christmas Fortune slot was gloriously error-free across all my devices. To try and trip it up, I even swapped between Safari and Chrome, but there was no discernable difference between the two browsers.
Maximum Win
The €200,000 max win is great for a medium-volatility game, and there’s a healthy betting spread (€0.25 to €40) that should please most players. The max multiplier is 5,000x.
Conclusion
I had a whale of a time playing Fiona’s Christmas Fortune slot – against all expectations, I might add! I mean, since when have I ever liked an Xmas-themed game? I guess the ice has been broken… which is damn unsettling to a Grinch like me.
The reason I enjoyed the game – other than the solid stats – was the action. The Wheel Bonus came in fairly frequently during testing, and I cracked the Free Spins round a few times, too. Something invariably happened before my few brain cells got too distracted.
Initiating the Link&Win round was far more difficult, but Jackpots are supposed to be labor-intensive; otherwise, what’s the joy?
Yes, I’ll shamefacedly recommend this game. Farewell hardcore reputation. It’s been great.
