Firebird Spirit Slot Review
Which movies do the following feature in – The Millennium Falcon, the DeLorean, and the 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am? The correct answer, of course, is Star Wars, Back to the Future, and Smokey and the Bandit.
The firebird-emblazoned Trans Am helped make it one of the most recognizable, and desirable, cars of the Seventies. Burt was given an exact replica of the Pontiac as a thank-you and owned it until 2014 when it sold at auction for an eye-watering $495,000.
I’m hoping that Firebird Spirit slot from Pragmatic Play will also turn out to be a sweet money-spinner. Let’s see if my newly grown handlebar mustache will bring me good luck… or maybe a career in retro porn?
Gameplay
I haven’t had an Aztec-themed game in a while, and man, is this game a looker. And seeing as we’re on the topic of good looks, check out the sexy Mamacita with her ample charms pulsating in a slow, hypnotic rhythm. What better way to get back in the saddle?
The soundtrack fits the game, with panpipes and driving drumbeats helping to create an appropriate atmosphere.
The 6-reel grid is humungous, and that means playing on a mobile device in either portrait or landscape mode is super easy. You can see the symbols at a glance, and the controls are easy to interact with.
There are some fun nuances to watch out for in the game, like when you score a win and the pop-up screen says: “Winner winner, chicken dinner,” or “Oh my, that win is so big!”
There are up to 1,875 ways to win in Firebird Spirit slot, and the RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. comes in at a respectable 96%. The high volatility rating should herald an impressive max win, and boy is it ever! You can stand to win a mouth-watering €371,875 on this here game!
As for currency limitations, you won’t be able to play with Japanese yen, Bitcoin Cash, or Tether. Every other form of currency is good, though.
Features
The Wild firebird symbol replaces all others, except for the Connect & Collect (C & C) ones. You’ll see Wilds throughout the base game and Free Spins round.
CONNECT & COLLECT FEATURE:
The C & C symbols appear on reels 1 to 5, In addition, you’ll also see special positions – outlined in green – at the top and bottom of reel 3. Reel 6 is filled with Free Spin or cash prize symbols only.
You’ll unlock prizes if you manage to create “pathways” with adjacently linked C & C symbols. These need to start from reel 1, touch either horizontally or vertically, and touch a special position on reel 3 and/or link up to a position on reel 6.
These special positions can be filled by one of the following:
Quick Collect:
Will only land on reel 3 and guarantees that C & C symbols land on reels 4 and 5 (this will connect them to reel 6)
Re-spin:
These symbols only land on reel 3’s special positions and will trigger a re-spin round with 5 spins. All C & C symbols in view will become sticky and the open positions on reels 2 to 5 will spin.
All newly landed C & C symbols will also become sticky. Play continues for as long as there are re-spins.
Money Value:
These take on a random monetary value ranging from 2x to 800x your total bet.
Jackpots:
You can clinch a Minor (50x), Major (200x), or Grand (4,000x) jackpot if the C & C symbol pathway reaches one of these symbols.
Add Wilds:
These will add Wild symbols to random positions on reels 2 to 5.
Free Spins:
This awards 2x your total bet along with 5 to 25 spins.
FREE SPINS FEATURE:
Free Spin symbols display a number on them, and when this round begins, the values are added up and that’s how many Free Spins you’ll be awarded.
Reels 1 and 2, as well as 4 and 5, can display the same symbols if they synchronize. C & C symbols are available during the Free Spins feature, and you can land additional Free Spins by connecting the C & C pathways to the Free Spins symbols on reel 6.
BUY FEATURE:
You can buy Free Spins, rather than waiting for them to land organically. It’ll cost 100x your total bet, which is more or less what most other games charge.
Performance
The performance on Firebird Spirit slot was flawless. I gave it horns for hundreds of spins on my various devices and used both Chrome and Safari. None of these things threw it off, so feel free to play the game your way.
Maximum Win
While the max win is huge, at €371,875, the multiplier ain’t (it’s 4,250x). That places some of the burden on the player, as you’ll need to keep a sustained bet of €87.50 if you wanna chase down that top prize.
On the other hand, it does mean that the betting spread is broad, so you can bet from €0.20 up to the cap.
Conclusion
The unique selling point of Firebird Spirit slot is the Connect & Collect feature. It’s an interesting way of doing things and offers entertainment during the base game and Free Spins.
I landed fairly regular, decent wins while testing, but do bear in mind that our experiences will inevitably be different.
Overall, Firebird Spirit slot is okay. It’s different enough to be interesting but isn’t crazy innovative. I reckon Pragmatic could have done more with the theme, rather than just adding a babe (which I do appreciate, by the way) and a bit of jungle, but hey. It is what it is.
