Fisherman's Luck Halloween Edition Slot Review
Fishing is the noblest of pastimes, right up until you remember what sailors used to do with the catch.
They dried out skates and rays 🐟 and twisted them into tiny winged devils, known as Jenny Hanivers, and sold the tortured taxidermy as baby dragons to anyone gullible enough to pay.
Fisherman's Luck Halloween Edition slot from Voltent brings back the idea of spooky seafood, with jack-o'-lanterns 🎃 on the reels and a witch and a hooded wraith 👻 taking turns watching the reels.
Gameplay
The reels are framed in wood underwater with rocky cliffs on both sides.
The game has a 5x3 grid with an extra top row of 5 positions and no paylines or ways, because prizes only come from Free Spins and the Cash Out feature. The RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. is 96.13% and the volatility is very high.
The max multiplier is 2,500x and the max win is $250,000.
Bets start at $0.10 and end at $100. All currencies are welcome.
There are four fixed jackpots beside the reels: Mini (20x), Minor (50x), Major (100x), and Grand Jackpot (2,500x). The Grand Jackpot symbol can only land during Free Spins.
There are no regular symbols here; instead there are Cash symbols with values from 1x to 10x. Cash and Jackpot symbols pay only when a Collector symbol collects them or when Cash Out pays them.
The top row belongs to the Collector and Cash Out symbols, and they can't land anywhere else.
Collector symbols land with a countdown from 1 to 10 and collect any Cash and Jackpot values that land on the reels below every spin until the countdown hits 0, but only pay during Free Spins.
If a Free Spins symbol lands under an active Collector symbol, you're awarded 10 Free Spins.
Features
FREE SPINS:
A Free Spins symbol landing on a reel under an active Collector symbol triggers 10 Free Spins. Landing a Free Spins symbol during Free Spins awards 10 additional spins.
At the end of the round, the sum of the Collector symbols' values is awarded. The feature also ends if the total win reaches 2,500x. Any Free Spins left over are forfeited.
A Grand Jackpot symbol landing below an active Collector symbol awards 2,500x on its own, and the Cash symbol values aren't added to it.
Modifier Symbols:
Modifier symbols land anywhere except the top row and affect the Collector symbol in their column.
Multiplier symbols multiply its total by 2x to 10x, Countdown Booster symbols add 3 to its countdown, and Collect to Infinity symbols set the countdown to infinity for the rest of the round.
CASH OUT:
Each Cash Out symbol gets a countdown from 10 to 20, and when it reaches 0 you get 3 re-spins.
During them, Cash and Jackpot symbols landing below the Cash Out symbol stick and reset the re-spins to 3, and filling all 3 positions below it pays their total value.
When Free Spins start, the Cash Out symbols and the symbols stuck below them are removed, and they come back once the round ends.
BUY BONUS AND ANTE BET:
Buy Bonus offers 5 tiers named Low, Standard, High, Extreme, and Double Extreme, which cost 50x, 100x, 200x, 500x, and 1,000x, respectively. They start 10, 10, 20, 20, and 30 Free Spins, respectively.
Low starts with 1 Collector symbol and the other tiers start with 2, and Extreme and Double Extreme put 1 and 2 of them on infinite countdowns, respectively.
The Ante BetAn Ante Bet is an option that costs a percentage of your bet but increases your chances of landing triggering symbols that initiate a feature. is called Chance Level in the game, and it keeps every symbol value as is.
Its 3 settings multiply the bet by 2, 5, and 10 for at least 2x, 5x, and 12x the chance of triggering Free Spins, respectively.
VOLATILITY LEVELS:
A chili button next to the bet selector switches between Low, Standard, and High volatility. Low pays more often though in most cases for less, and High can hit big wins but not as often.
GAMBLE:
The Gamble featureThis feature allows you to gamble your current winnings. It usually takes the form of guessing what color and/or suit a facedown card will reveal itself to be. A correct guess on the color pays 2x, while a correct guess of the color and suit pays 4x your bet. lets you double a win by picking 1 of 2 symbols, for up to 7 rounds in a row. A wrong pick forfeits the win you're gambling, and you can take the win and stop at any time.
Performance
I ran the slot through the base game and a bought Free Spins round, and nothing froze, stuttered, or glitched.
Maximum Win
Land the max multiplier of 2,500x at the top bet of $100 and the max win is $250,000.
The smallest bet you can place is $0.10.
Conclusion
The slot's money rides on the Collector symbols sweeping up Cash and Jackpot values, and Multiplier symbols and infinite countdowns make each sweep fatter.
A single Grand Jackpot symbol under an active Collector symbol reaches the max multiplier by itself, but that's a lottery ticket. Getting there with Cash symbols means stacking long countdowns and Multiplier symbols for most of a round.
The RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. makes the slot a longer session game, so a bankroll has time to find a Collector.
For a very high volatility game the max multiplier is small, so the swings are bigger than the top prize justifies.
The round ends at the max multiplier, so the more a Buy Bonus tier costs, the less room it leaves to profit. By my math Low can return up to 50 times its price and Double Extreme only 2.5 times.
No tier RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate. is shown, so take Low or Standard and skip Double Extreme.
The Ante BetAn Ante Bet is an option that costs a percentage of your bet but increases your chances of landing triggering symbols that initiate a feature.'s top setting promises a bigger jump in chance than in price, so skip the lower 2 and use the top one only if you want the round more often.
High-bet players who can sit through long dry stretches for a capped payout are the target, and cautious low-bet players should pass.
