Fishin’ Pots of Gold: Gold Blitz Slot Review
Leprechauns aren’t known for their great fashion sense. Generally, they’re said to wear all green with possibly a leather apron and their pointy kicks had buckles on em.
The color green probably helped them blend in with the Irish countryside which, if pesky humans want to capture you and steal your gold, makes for a wise decision.
The little people are also said to wear hats, belts, feathers in their caps, and other fashion accessories. But no leprechaun you’ve ever seen will be as over-the-top as the pimpin’ homeboy in our next game, Fishin’ Pots of Gold: Gold Blitz slot from Quickfire.
Gameplay
Fishin’ Pots of Gold: Gold Blitz slot is a follow-up to the game that introduced us to the bizarre fishing/Leprechaun combo theme. Who of you out there thought it was cool? There must have been a few of you because look at where we are now. Speak up; I need names, dammit.
The new game looks worse than its predecessor – that one was set underwater so it looked OK, but the new one has the 6-reel grid floating in a forest above a river. And look at that frog underneath the reels; it seems like a child rendered it.
You can see I’m hating on the theme and the design but I’m over it now so we can focus on the game itself. As such, let’s talk stats. There are 4,096 ways to win, a 96% RTPRTP stands for “Return to Player.” The RTP describes the total bet amount that a game returns to players over millions of spins, and that figure is represented by a percentage. Table games, such as Roulette, typically have higher RTPs than many slots.
RTP needs to be considered in conjunction with a game’s volatility rate., and a high volatility rate.
The largest multiplier you can land is 5,000x and the top prize is €250,000 – nothing wrong with any of these so I’ll have to deal with the janky design and get over myself. The game accepts fiat currency only, except the Japanese yen.
The first symbol I’m going to discuss is our Collect one. It has our Leprechaun on it that for some reason makes me think of Connor McGregor; it’s probably the shiny suit and star-shaped glasses that made me think that. Who wears a suit to go fishing, by the way?
Mushroom Wilds replace all symbols that aren’t Scatters, Cash symbols (fish), Jackpot symbols, or Collect symbols. You’ll see Wilds on reels 2 to 6 in the base game, and on reels 2 to 4 in the Free Spins round.
Collect symbols appear on reels 1 and 6 in both the base game and the Gold Blitz feature – more on this below.
Features
COLLECT FEATURE:
Land a single Collect symbol to trigger this feature. Each one you hit will award all of the landed Cash and Jackpot symbols.
There are 3 Jackpots in this game: the Minor (25x), Major (250x), and Mega (2,500x).
FREE SPINS WITH MULTIPLIERS:
Hitting 3 or more Scatters gets you into the Free Spins round and gives you a payout and a choice between one of the Bonus rounds:
- 3 Scatters = 1x bet payout and either 8 spins or 2 Gold Blitz spins
- 4 Scatters = 2x bet payout and either 12 spins or 3 Gold Blitz spins
- 5 Scatters = 3x bet payout and either 20 spins or 5 Gold Blitz spins
- 6 Scatters = 5x bet payout and either 30 spins or 7 Gold Blitz spins
Additionally, a 2x, 3x, or 5x multiplier is randomly awarded for every Wild that’s involved in a win way. Landing extra Scatters re-triggers the Free Spins in the following way: 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 Scatters = 5, 8, 12, 20, or 30 spins.
GOLD BLITZ:
At least 1 Collect symbol will land per spin during this feature, and only Collect, Cash, and Jackpot symbols will appear on the reels. But the best part is that a win is guaranteed on each spin!
BUY BONUS:
Pay 75x, 120x, or 150x to buy a Free Spin round with 4, 5, or 6 Scatters. And then you’ll get to choose the combo I mentioned earlier.
Performance
Performance wasn’t an issue with Fishin’ Pots of Gold: Gold Blitz slot. It did its thing as expected on all of my devices and browsers.
Maximum Win
The betting range goes from €0.20 to €50, and the max multiplier is 5,000x while the top prize comes in at €250,000.
Conclusion
Look, by now you’ve figured out that I’m not a fan of the design of this game which is off-putting for me. It’s not somewhere that I wanna spend my time or money but I know that design is not a factor for most players so what do I think about the gameplay and the features?
I like that you get a choice between the Gold Blitz and the Free Spins, and the Buy Bonus was my go-to during testing.
Also, getting up to 30 spins is impressive by anyone’s standards, so there is that. You also can’t fault the game on its stats, so the underlying math and mechanics are solid.
But for me, I’d pass on Fishin’ Pots of Gold: Gold Blitz slot. The janky looks and the awful theme are enough to put me off. But if it’s your kinda thing, then more power to ya.
